I can't stand the crowds--I like to have complete freedom of choice to play whatever machines I want. That's why I go early in the morning. I arrive usually around 6:00am and play until the crowds start arriving (approx 1pm). I've not heard of any advantage based on time of day. There's a perception that the hits are more frequent during the busy time of day (afternoon and evening), but that is caused by the higher number of people playing.
