Slots Coming to Gulfstream Park in Florida
The parent of Gulfstream Park has gained state permission to operate slot machines at its thoroughbred racetrack in Hallandale Beach.
Aurora, Ont.-based Magna Entertainment Corp. (NASDAQ: MECA) said late Friday that Florida awarded it a gaming license.
The company said it is proceeding with developing the slots facility at Gulfstream and expects to have 516 slot machines installed and operational within the next several weeks.
Gulfstream is one of the four Broward County pari-mutuels that can install slot machines, following amendments statewide voters approved in November 2004 and Broward voters approved in March 2005.
The facilities can have up to 1,500 Las Vegas-style slot machines.
