I'm not sure how old these machines are in your area --- but Konami's "Mystery Progressive" machines are linked machines (at least 4) with various themes. They have a "MINI" (starts at $40) and a "MAXI" (starts at $200) jackpot (for the 10-cent version). The games feature your standard "free spin" bonus round -- and some tease up to 1000 free spins (although I have not seen anyone actually get that).
The kicker here --- you just randomly receive the progressives as you play -- there is apparently no need to hit a winning combination. I think this idea stinks. Part of the fun is the anticipation of winning a large amount -- seeing a win as it is forming (or not quite developing).
I have never seen anything like this since an old school WMS game called, "Something for Nothing". On non-winning spins, you had a chance to randomly receive a random payout. I have never seen the idea since. It was anti-climactic.
People do seem to "dig" these machines ... so there must be some attraction. Anyone else play these?

I have not seen those at all. The random mystery deal since like what some of the casinos do when they have their random jackpots on certain machines that just hit whenever. Very interesting I will keep my eye out for them!

Ah yes, Something for Nothing didn't last too long in MI, at least. Lots of play when they were 1st installed, then sat empty and were soon gone.
LOL...1000 free spins?
I hate to hit this when my bus is scheduled to leave in a half hour.
Btw Shamus,I am still taking notes on these machines. It's surprising all these slots mentioned is unheard of(with the exception of the standard 3 reel IGTs).

Most spins I ever got was 75 from a Cleopatra 5 cent machine...trigger after retrigger with crappy pays...
but a 1000 free spins, holey moley

1000 spins is like punishment. Yikes. I've had 150 spins on The Sopranos and even though it is fun to see the win meter go up and up that time spent sitting and watching gets tedious after the first 100...lol

I wonder if anyone has seen 1000 free spins? When the bonus round in triggered, you have about 20 spots to choose from (once you find a pair, that is the number of free spins you get) ... as few as 5 or 10 -- and I was shocked when one I picked said 1000. I assume the other 1000 is not always there --- otherwise, that would be a lot of free spins. Either way you slice it -- it is a testiment to a difficult game --- when the machine can award 1000 free spins.

I wonder how long the 1,000 free spins would take to complete? Sounds like enough time to go to the bathroom and grab a snack! I finally did see these Konami Mystery Progressives, they were pretty busy but I didn't see much happening on them. I didn't play them, I rarely play Konami and Aristocrat machines as most you of already know!

Honestly ... you are not missing much ... however, they have definite following. I frequently see jackpots paid -- well, $200 to $400 type range. Nothing life altering.

PS - I have not figured out exactly how the Konami stacked symbols work. Lots of the symbols are stacked --- but the frequency of the stacked images seems to change. For example -- most stacked games have stacked wilds -- or stacked wilds and one stacked symbol (like a lion in "100 Lions" or a prince in "Palace of Riches II") -- but the Konami ones have many symbols which come up stacked. The reels seem to be manipulated in some way. Hmmm

I was playing Venice at Silver Legacy in Reno once (before they took the machine out last year) and got 115 spins (50, then 15, then another 50), took a good 30 minutes but cashed out for just under $400 with 125 coins bet. I just let the sounds of the machine run their course.

I have seen these machines, Deb they have them at Pauma at the back. The machine Shamus is referring to with 1000 free spins is called Diamond Quest. This machine, does not have the stacked symbols like other Konami games. Some guy I was sitting next to said he saw someone hit the 1000 spins, and she was apparently there for awhile.
Also, Shamus, I have noticed too that the Konami games with stacked symbols, the reels are not consistent, unless its just one "huge reel". When I play Zeus 2 or Palace of Riches 3, its pretty easy to "read the reels". But usually when you play, the stacked symbols that show up are consistent (ie you may not win anything, but the symbols are the same that appear on the screen), unlike WMS wraparounds where its usually a mess of stacked symbols.
jgpinpong, thanks for that info about the games being at Pauma. Honestly I don't care for Konami so that is probably why I don't or didn't even realize they were even there!!!
When I am at Pauma, I spend a lot of time on Medusa, I LOVE that game. Also you can usually find me at the only Frog Princess they have over by Star Wars. I am pretty predictable at Pauma!!!

Hi jgpingpong:
You noticed exactly what I noticed. The virtual reels appear to change from spin to spin. I don't understand how these games work. There are several Konami games like this.
If someone understands, please let me know.

I played a lot with a machine which had mystery bonus rounds on my most recent trip. It wasn't the Konami machine you mentioned though.
I'd never played a slot with a mystery anything, but I got used to it real quick. It is definitely odd winning a progressive or bonus round randomly and without knowing why you got it, but after a while, it didn't seem to matter that you don't see the symbols line up to get your prize, just as long as you get a prize.
In fact, I found it fun to hit the Spin reels button on your very first attempt at the machine and have it go directly to the bonus round for instant money, without the reels ever spinning at all!

I played one of these Konami slots this weekend and got 48 free spins which was 3 free spins/line. I was happy and thrilled at first. Well I won less than $5 on 48 spins. It's just not right to give a girl 48 free spins and not pay up. Annoying!

I think Konami has some strong games ... but I'm not so much into their progressives. However, their graphics are pretty decent ... they are behind on sound.

PS - The old title, "Money in the Bank" is still one of my "Top 10 favourites".
