In the past 2 months I've had to get my sprinkler repaired, trees trimmed (hurricane season begins June 1st, gutters cleaned and the list continues. This month it's time to have the yard cleaned and mulched, driveway/sidewalk/house power washed and my house deep cleaned. Plus on the Gulf Coast quarterly pest extermination is a must. Now I need outside house repairs totaling $2075. (which will take care the squirrel problem, that's another story.

My house maintenance fund is depleted, and I'm thankful I had one. I hope nothing else is needed because I don't want to dip into my casino or emergency funds. Thank you for listening/reading my rant. I 'm starting to feel better.

Well that is quite and expense and as a homeowner myself the cost of owning a home can be quite costly as times and for some reason it seems to come in waves! Well, you can think of it this way, you can feel better and rest easy that these items are taken care of...........BUT, having said that we certainly do not want you to have to dip into your casino funds!!! That would be tragic! We just ordered a new pool vacuum and that was a pretty penny too. Hate big old costs like that!!! Good luck Cassie, feel free to vent here anytime. I am glad it made you feel better :)

Deb's right about about it coming in waves....I swear it's like that with appliances. We whisper when the dryer breaks so the fridge can't hear, etc. At least you had a cushion and here's hoping for no more problems!

Glad you were able to cover everything without dipping in gambling funds (LOL) or emergency money. Now you need a fabulous casino night to help take your mind off of it all. hehehe

Hi cassie!! If it will make you feel just a little bit better i promise you you're not alone. Just a few months ago i decided my old kitchen formica counter top had to go. It's best days were long gone lol. I figured around 4k for a granite counter, well one thing led to another and by the time i was done my kitchen was halph gutted out and i spent about 9k lol. And yes all my casino dollars went into my kitchen so no casino for me... until i had to go! Afterall there's gotta be more to life than just house repairs!! LOL! :)

Thank you cassie. Have to show it to DW so I can prove what I'm really worth around here. LOL Not really.
"quarterly pest extermination"...we call that winter up here:).

Oh, I hear you! I had scheduled the gutters to be cleaned yesterday (supposed to arrive "late morning/early afternoon"). My husband did the morning waiting shift and they still hadn't arrived by 2:30pm. I told him I would come home to do the afternoon shift. Get in my car (I was at the office) and it won't start. Yes, the battery died! Had to spend this morning at Sears for my new battery (of course, they added a new air filter which I was told I needed!).

Deb....I bet a pool vacuum is a pretty penny
Yankeerose....."whispering"----LOL
Amberde ......going to get that casino night next month (fingers crossed)
Rich99....kitchen ka-Chang!
Oleslotguy...$1200 toilet seat OMG. If we had hard freezes here I probably cut out the pest control!
Mauretenia...expenses always crop up. BTW, did you get the gutters cleaned?

Well, I wrote a check for half the payment and repairs began today. Thank you all for sharing it really helps and I love the humor! And only this forum understands about not wanting to dip into the casino fund!

Keep the stories coming folks, this could out to be a feel good thread.

$1200 seat...well it only cost $8.95...buutttt, it made the stool look old, so I replaced that, which led to a new sink as well, and (the now famous) 'while we're at it' lets get a new cabnet. Wow, she says that look nice, wish you'd do something with the floor, sooo, new tile right? The floor/subfloor was really old so replaced that, and some old plumbing, and the tile, but with all this the tub looks sooo outdated. Glad she said that b/4 the floor was done.....total =$1200.
Now this was a long time ago, and today would prolly run $5-$6000. And so it goes.
Did the same 'while we're at it' with the kitchen, which started with a new fridge.

I hate when it comes in waves and right now I don't want to jinx myself but wanted to tell you Hi and hope this is the end of your worries so you don't have to dip into that casino fund because that will really hurt! The house repairs are completed....and the "house/car" fund has $309 in it and my plan is to buid it back up. The casino fund remains untouched and ready for Las Vegas next month.

Thanks again everyone.

One more maintenance job....getting the sidewalks/driveway power washed today. Had the yard spring cleaned Monday (mulch, shrubs trimmed etc). Good idea to have the PW last...mulch footprints all over driveway & sidewalk. The monthly house cleaners will be here @ 11:30, so by 1:30, every thing should be in good shape and I have no other chores planned. I'm trying very hard not to make a drive east on I-10 to Louisiana for gambling...but with all these house expenses my bankroll is pretty slim until next month (ended up having to use a bit of the BR) and I won't dip into savings. So.. I will spend the day relaxing.
