View Full Version : Sharing Cards vs. Seperate Cards?

So I had a question. I am still a noob at gambling, however I believe I read or saw that some married couples have linked their cards? Or maybe i read that they had 2 cards for the same account?

My wife and I just went to Vegas in March, heading back up in November. We won't go often, and when we do go we will go together. I probably put more play in the slots. She plays too but not as much and she seems to lose a lot quicker LOL. Anyways, in March we got 2 seperate cards and at the end we both ended up with different food comps and what not. I know if we link them somehow, the comps will add up to the same for the food and whatnot, but what about mailed comp offers?

For example... if we both use the same players club account, of course our play through will be more then if seperate. I just don't want to join them and end up with just one comp offer as oppose to two, especially if they are the same, ya know? Not sure if I am making sense, but since we plan on attending Vegas more often we would love to start off on the right foot.

Let me know,
Thanks!!!

Oh yes, and we are by no means "high rollers" like some couples may be. So chances of us getting any comp offers seperate maybe pretty slim. We plan on taking $2000 in "casino" money this vacation for the both of us to split... and in march we took $1500 in "casino" money. So as you can see, I don't plan on seeing $500fp and free top floor suites anytime soon, but definitly wouldn't mind a few extra bucks when we go back in free play :)

I've been pondering about this; we have 2 separate cards and accounts and would receive promotions/comps separately. Example, concert tickets, we will get 4 (2 each) and we can reserved 2 rooms if need be. The other day Mohegan Sun gave out gas cards, and we got 2 for $100 each - not sure if the accounts were linked they would have given us 1 for $200. My husband had his account with 2 cards which we used to share, then about 2 years ago they had a promotion for $100 FP for new members, and I signed up and that's how we now have 2 separate accounts. I am of the opinion it depends on the casino, but, that just a wild opinion.

We once used two different players club accounts when we had our two kids travelling with us and would need two rooms for each trip. Now the system favors only one card build up for the best points and offers. Also, some programs have caught on and combine household accounts so you cannot "double dip".

I guess it's just best to ask each casino and check their structure huh? This is really for the Vegas trip... and I guess combining makes more sense since I don't think she will gamble enough to get anything anyways. Coushatta I really go solo or with friends so I guess ill leave that seperate.

Thanks for all the help.

We have a linked account at the Atlantis in Reno. We are low rollers for sure. We've been there 4 times in the last 4 years. My DH gets offers now for 3 free nights and $25 free slot play. I don't get any free play from them because he gets it all. Bums me out but if our cards were seperate I wonder if we would get the free room offers? I just don't know how all that stuff works.

You asked the same thing I am wondering... I guess it depends on the threshold...
If the casino is giving $25FP for $1000-5000 play through... and you do $700 and your DH does $800... then splitting it may result in you getting NOTHING. But then again if they are giving $25 FP for $500-1500 playthrough and you had the same play, you both would have $25FP.

Ehh I guess I will put it together and hope for the best LOL.

It's pretty much a wash either way you do it. At one of my local casinos we used one card and got $50 FP a week. One time they had a promotion for $20 FP for a new member signup, so DW signed up for a card of her own. Now she gets $25 a week FP. Problem is since my play is now cut in half with her using her own card, I only get $25 a week too. Still adds up to $50 a week though.

It's best to both sign up for separate cards if they are offering a "sign-up" promotion. After that, as you plan on both taking the trips together, use one card. You will accumulate points faster. We did this with CET and used my card to reach Diamond and then used my husbands card. M-Life is only in my name. I like to be the major card holder as I do many solo trips, trips meeting with friends and family etc...

Hmmmm, this got me thinking. I'm going to Spirit mountain for my birthday next week. They offer 2x points on your birthday week. We're going Monday and spending the night. Monday is also 3x points. I wonder if I will get the 3x and the 2x on that day? Maybe I should have DH use my card that day???
