About 15 years ago I took my daughter to Las Vegas for a free week that I was given because I was a big slots player. We had a slots tournament a big welcome dinner, games like a carnival set up in the meeting room with prizes, a big send off dinner. This was done at the Flamingo Hotel and it was great fun.

However, the best was the fact in one 24 hour period I could do nothing wrong. I started out at the nickle machines for fun and won the jackpot and then moved up to the dime machines and won the jackpot then moved up to the twenty-five cent machines and won the jackpot and took those winnings to the dollar machines and won the jackpot. After touring around the downtown we went back to the hotel and I decided to take my winnings and go play the $5 slots which was something I had always wanted to do.

I asked the ladies in the room which ones were about to hit and they pointed me to one machine. I put in $200 and quickly lost it. So I wanted to move and they suggested another machine. I sat down and put in $15 and the single bar with 2 coins (x4 coins) and I'm looking at the machine thinking I had won $400 when one of the security people came over and said no you didn't win $400. I was just about to argue with him when he said "You won $2,000.00". WOOHOO what a day that was.

However, that was when I learned not to play those big machines anymore cause if you are from Canada they take 1/3 off the top before they give you the money. So now I stick to the $1,000 jackpot slots. I can win those more than once and never pay any income tax.

Nothing beats the times where everything just seems to click. Those moments have been few and far between for me, but I still cherish the ones which did happen.

So they take it off the top, but can't you get a form and get it back? When I go to Canada I get a form from Customs to get back the GST that we pay when we're there - isn't it the same for the chunk they take for taxes you don't have to pay?
