It's not free, but it seemed like a good deal. For $289 they've got a family package that includes 2 nights beach front room (2 queens), $200 in food, $80 free play and $80 arcade for the kids. Comes out that the rooms are actually free, plus you get an extra $70 in comps. The couple's package is $229 with 2 nights, $80 free play and $120 food. My friend and I actually booked the family package for the two of us because we like to play the arcade games too! By the time we go the kids will be back in school so we won't look too ridiculous. Whether I can eat $200 in food in 2 days is questionable. Well...I'm pretty sure I can do it, plus there's always doggie bags.

That sounds like a good deal. We always stay at Chinook Winds hotel if there's a long weekend but need to get like an advance reservation during summertime. And good luck on your casino plays, that's where a person hit a $13,000+ jackpot on WWII.
As they say : It's better at the beach

It IS better at the beach. I prefer Chinook Winds to Spirit Mountain, even though their buffet leaves a lot to be desired. IMO...friendlier staff, slightly looser machines, you can go for a walk on the beach, to the Lighthouse Brew Pub, the outlet mall. Much better place to visit. BUT, on Wednesday when I was there their entire computer system went down. Every TITO had to be handpaid. Nothing worked. Fortunately I already had my TITO in hand, hit the cashiers cage and was out the door. They've been booking like crazy since the special came out. Those prices include taxes too, so my half is only going to cost $145 for two days. Of course that $40 FP is probably only going to last an hour or two, but it's better than nothing. $13,000! Wow. I like that game, but it hasn't liked me in the past few trips.

My August trip is to Three Rivers, so Chinook Winds isn't until September. Their package price is good thru September for anyone who might be interested. My friend got 2 nights comped at Three Rivers so I figured why not. I'll spend the crappy $20 comp they gave me and then go to The Mill Casino in Coos Bay. I've never been there before and always like checking out a new place.

There's a large billboard advertising that special just before Spirit Mountain. It's a good deal for sure! Have a great time. DH and I did fairly well on Beat the Bandits last time we were there. I don't care for Chinook Winds food either. We like Lighthouse Brewpub too. They have a really tasty Albacore Tuna sandwich. Pair it with some chowder and I'm in heaven. :)
We've only been to The Mill a few times. Small but nice. The staff were really friendly and the the slots seemed fairly loose. I get decent comps for Three Rivers but never seem to do well, so we rarely go. Florence is a nice sleepy smaller beach town that isn't quite as commercialized as Lincoln City, and that's one of the things I like about it.

Good luck to you and your friend at 3 Rivers and Coos Bay... We might take that route also before we head to SD in the middle of this month.
The last time I was in 3 Rivers casino was when their machines are still inside a couple of tents. And hopefullly in The Mill casino, they will have a "serve yourself" drinks just like Chinook and Spirit mountain, I have to go to the deli to get something to drink since no one was around to offer the players.

^^ We re-visited 3 rivers last night and not a lot of people there for a friday night. But the lounge with a live band was full. Nice sounds while spinning the wheels of the slots. LOL
I got some good hits on the 2 Shamin's Magic machines on the right side near the entrance, but I was just betting $0.25. As I was on my last few cents, then I got the 4 bonus symbol....I still need to get that elusive 5.
The Florence 3 Rivers casino has a nice setup, smaller in size but still a very friendly atmosphere, there's no WWII, Timberwolf or Buffalo machines that I could find...I'm still happy with lots of Aristocrat machines all around. Then we went to Chinook winds before the sun's up or the clouds up or whatever was up there. Did not hit anything good but my bankroll of $200 lasted until lunchtime, then head home and Zzzz...
have a nice trip at 3 rivers and chinook...
