View Full Version : IGT's Red Hot Jackpots

I had a chance to play IGT's "Rapid Riches" progressive. There was a bank of four machines connected to a 2-cent progressive which had 4 levels of jackpot. The top amount available was in the $10K range.

If you play 20 credits, you play the bars and WILDS. If you play 60 credits, it adds in other symbols (such as blazing 7's). If you play the 100 credits, you are elegible for the BONUS ROUND (which is the way you win the big money). In other words, it's $2 per spin.

Although I am not a big fan of progressives, the game offered more pay than you would normally expect for a $2 progressive. The bonus round has some excitement, as you are trying to collect as many "Red Hot Jackpot" symbols during the 8 free spins. Every time you get 3 symbols on one spin, you receive an additional 8 free spins.

If $2 a spin is close to your normal bet ... and you enjoy progressives, I thought this one was decent.

Here is a link to the IGT site.

However, someone else expeirenced a similar issue. FYI

I've played this game. I think the max bet is $1 in Vegas and the same or $1.50 in Southern California Indian Casinos. I have been able to win the second progressive (second lowest). I also have seen this game hit a lot when there are lots of people playing, however, I've never seen anyone hit the largest amount.

They have this at Pauma and I played it twice and it sucked my money in no time. I got no action on the reels whatsoever. I doubt I will ever try it again. Glad to hear that some of you have had some luck and liked the game.

I have won the first 3 jackpots on the scale that added up to 500 one night.:) In my opinion in the bank of machines usually there is only one hitting, that will give out the red hot jackpots symbols often, so I go down the row and test them, give each a few spins and see which one is the HOT machine. That has worked really well for me, you will usually get the jackpot symbols for a chance at the progressive in a couple spins. They are fun though!

I actually sat down and read the marketting sheet on this game. I thought you had to win 50 points to win the progressive (you get a point each time the BONUS symbol shows up on a payline). So ... you need to retrigger many many times to have a hope of 50 points.

However, if the 5 symbols land on a payline -- you win the progressive right off the bat. Perhaps most of you knew this -- but I didn't realize it.

You have discovered the most frequent hit "bonus round" game I have played on the casino floor. I estimate the 8 round bonus free spins occurs once every 40-50 spins. When a bank of eight machines is playing the jackpot levels hit every few minutes.

It's interesting. Indeed, my local casino, Mohawk Racetrack Slots, installed 8 of these machines. Clearly labelled on the front of the machine is only 4 slots connected to the progressives which are lined up back to back on an aisle. I wonder why they decided to go with 4 slots for each progressive? I might speculate that when one progressive is won, the other continues to accumulate and draw a crowd ... but that is just a guess.

PS - The version I am playing is a 2-cent denom. Does this come in other denominations? The top prize seems to start at $10K. Is this pretty standard? Do the "red hot jackpot" symbols come up more in the BONUS ROUND? The way my bonus retriggered several times, it sure seemed that way.

We've seen it in one cent, two cent, three cent and nickel denomination. We've also seen one bank, I think at Lone Butte, in $.25 denomination.

And, yes, we have seen the largest amount hit at the casino in Payson, AZ.

The machine bank at San Manual Casino in California which I played at is an 8 bank of machines, 4 on each side but all eight of them are linked which may explain why the meter runs so quickly and hits so frequently. The smallest jackpot starts at $10 and hits by $15-$20 when all eight machines are playing. The largest jackpot is the $10,000 for the 50 red-hot hiots during the bonus round but I was unaware of the the fact that if they line up on a payline you automatically win it.

Played it and love it. Of course I was at the machine that kept going into the bonus round, but I did notice that other machines were not going off as frequently. Like Maxgirl said you have to be on the lucky one.

I learned this the hard way one night many months ago, being new to playing these I sat in the same machine and went through 200 dollars:eek: mean while some guy walks up and on his first 20 the machine gives a bonus with retriggers he walked way with over 500 in about 10 minutes, while I had been there feeding the machine for an hour! so now I have had the best luck giving each machine a few spins to see which one will give out the bonus first, then I sit and play, usually thats the one thats gonna pay out more credits on the base game to. This works best of course if the bank is not busy. I never give these machines more them 50 now, if I aint winning by then im out.

IGT Red Hots has to have one of the most frequent bonus round game you can play in a pooled slot gaming bank of machines. I would estimate the bonus round hits between 1 in 30 and 1 in 40 spins, similar to Wheel of Fortune Special Edition.

I did so well on it!

Couldn't get on it today but I'll definately play it next week. I did notice that one base game does well and some of the other ones do lousy [for me anyway]. I can never win on the one with grapes! I do really well on the one with the sevens and multipliers.

Sorry, Shamus, that's not so technical, I know. Prolly just my bad luck! I'll try to get the actual names next time I drive up there!

The one we have has a max bet of a dollar, which is so much more in my budget than some of the others.

I still like to give Hot Shots a few dollars, just in case. And it triggers a lot also!

There's a nine level progressive I want to try, but it's always camped. I'll see if I can get onto that one next week also.

Wow, Shamus!

I played this for a few hours, and hit the second highest progressive once, and almost hit it again, and retriggered a LOT!

But I didn't know that 5 on a payline autowins!

Does it have to be in the base game? Or does it still count if you get it during respins??!

I was trying to figure out why it seemed to hit so much when it seemed fairly hard to win!

See, it pays to read the fine print!
~Yadarra, knew there was a reason this was at the top of my must-play list...if the seniors would get off the min bet nonsense and give me a seat!

Has to be on a played payline at max bet during the BASE game. That's okay, could happen!

So I drove down south after work just to play these games. And I even got settled into my favorite one in the bank. And I played. And I played. And I "wrassled". And I had a drink or two. And I played some more. I kept getting outrageous line pays...80 dollars and 26 dollars on a game that mostly pays less than the dollar you wagered. [dOh! Deb would hate it.]

I played for about 8 hours on 20 dollars! I never ran out of money (and I brought 500, just in case!) A couple of times I was up by 200 or more and thinking about cashing out. I just didn't want to leave a winning game! Same as last time...rofl! I kept hitting the small progressive. I hit the second to smallest a few times. The third and top one were HUGE! No one had hit them in a LONG time!

Since last time I was there, I hit the 200 dollars twice, I thought for SURE I could hit it at the 300 dollar level. I prolly would have eventually, or I'd still BE there, if I hadn't run out of steam!

I did discover more things about the game, now that I was paying attention and "in it to win it"! If you get 4 scattered bonus symbols, you start on a higher tier automatically. And if you get 5 *scattered* symbols, you start at the tier I was going for! Never got 5 of them, but got 4 of them 4x and still couldn't get retriggers. The 5 on a payline gives you the progressive, as well as the jackpot game combo. I sure was trying to hit those. I didn't know what to wish for so I kept wishing for all the bonus symbols. LOL. The retriggers were a LOT fewer than they were last time. Everyone who played seemed to think so too. Guess that's why the progressive was so high!

[[And they added all the new games that my other two casinos just added...it was rather curious. (Anyway, guess they want to be the one-stop-shopping casino of choice!)]] I never got that far and by the time I was done with my spot, the place had totally filled up. :(

Finally, I had to run to the bathroom and dude next to me had decided to "play two games"...I was like...dude, seriously? I kept checking back and he kept losing all his money on BOTH of those machines. That's Karma for ya!:D

But I was pretty much done anyway, by that point. And hOngRy! And all the restaurants had opened and closed in those 8 hours. Go figure.

Anyway, I they gave me a higher tier on my players card...and they gave me another gas card. They seem pretty Yad-friendly!! Not too bad, considering I don't look like much. :p

So I had McDonald's off the Interstate at midnight and drove home.

Sorry, guys, promised ya all a big trip report but nothing really happened. Maybe next big trip I can get there early and try a lot of different things.

One happy but tired lil Yads!!!

Hi Yadarra:

Now that I am making minimal bets, my brief love of this progressive is over. It's not a bad game ... but I decided my bankroll can not afford it.

Hope you hit the $10K+ sometime soon!

The base games are a lot more boring than what I normally play...but I want to WIN that thing now!

((I'm a lil bullpuppy when I sink my teeth into something. Rofl!:p))

I guess we'll see if I get tired of it before it gets tired of me and pays me! I've never been able to play 8 hours for free before...pretty sure that's not typical or they wouldn't make any money on them, of course!

Plus, I've got my eye on those 9 Quick Hits.:o Okay, maybe not. I have to know my limitations. Well, most of the time!

Shamus...you mentioned tht you read the game info...prior to that ...was there any indication on the machine face to indicate that the game at lower amount only payed lower symbols...high bet more symbols... I was going to look for these and maybe play a few plays...but I like to play lower amounts.... I've gotten jackpots on lots of machines over the years , but no pays because I needed one or two more coins....

Pegg, on the Red Hot machines that I've seen, it does for sure say that to get anything for the higher symbols, you have to play higher credit amounts. For example, the 7's nor the bonus symbols pay if not betting higher amounts.

Yadarra

You have to play the 1.00 to get the free spins...and if you don't, you'll get slaughtered. I watched a LOT of people try it, but the game just can't pay ya.

Luckily, $1 can last a long time on this one, compared to others I've tried.

Since it was designed as a progressive...what can ya do? It's not like some of the other games that threw a progressive element in as an afterthought.

Don't worry, even the button says you have to play a dollar...you won't miss it!

Hi Pegg:

There isn't much excitement on this game without the BONUS ROUND. There are frequent small payouts -- but it would not be easy to jackpot without the progressive.

Some of you guys are saying that these machines have 1 in a group of 8 that actually pay. I am here to tell you guys that this notion is indeed all in your head. I sat down at one of these games at the same 2 cent denom that shamus described with $40 and started going good getting bonus rounds and hitting decent payouts. I live and play in Reno Nevada by the way. I made it up about $170 plus my origional $40. I got another bonus round and was watching it run its course when a man sits next to me and after about 5 minutes he wins something good for $300+. Sadly I had to leave the casino for the day but this guy was still going hard when I left and was also triggering bonus rounds like crazy. Our two machines were 1 machine apart and obviously both of them were handing out paydays. So unless you dont consider $170 to be a good win I would say its all random and the luck of the draw.

A small occurance at the quickhits machine during my visit is worth bringing up. I was playing the 1 cent quickhits playing a $20. This lady sitting next to me was completely off her rocker. She was kissing the machine and rubbing it and doing all manner of odd things to it. It looked like she was even having a small conversation with it. To each their own I guess. I just find it amazing that people can be so over the top superstitious when it comes to slots. Its all random you just gotta be at the right place at the right time. Each result is independant of the one before and therefor no meaningful pattern can be found by "testing a machine". Who knows when the RNG is going to flash a jackpot. It could be now it could be in 5 mins and it could have happened the split second before you pulled the reel.

we use to have this game in Alberta, they pulled it about a year ago and replaced it with Wheel of Fortune.

One big problem with the game: If you get all 5 jackpot symbols in the bonus spins, it does not count. This sucks because acouple of times I did get the 5 jackpot symbols during the bonus spins. I fell of my seat when I got it. When I got backup, only to find that I won a couple of hundred instead of thousands. That sucked.

According to Shamus, the Jackpot symbols all have to line up on a payline to get the top prize, otherwise you just enter the normal 8 free spin round.

Still trying to win that jackpot...been at it a few weeks now.

I still like starting on a higher tier by getting 4 or 5 of the hOt symbols, though. I haven't come anywhere close to rolling a natural jackpot.

Apparently, the limit is 160 retriggered spins. I think 40? is the most I've managed to get. That was a nice one!:)

So last night I got that itch to drive awhile...sometimes my feet just get yantsy!

So I hit Red Wind and "won a seven" on quarter Change Reaction (after winning 100 or so on 20 free spins (and hard fought they were!!!)) on Stankers...anyway, on Change, the lady next to me filled me in on the lingo!:o Anyway, took that freep and profit down south (about 100 dollars) and hit The Progressive Land.

Spent several hours going between IGT's Red Hot Jackpots, Hot Shots Progressive (the one with Hot Shots, Diamond Line, Double Jackpot, Triple Jackpot and SEVEN TIMES PAY (LOL!!!), and the two dollar Quick Hits Progressive. My casino doesn't have them and the one by my house doesn't either, so I just get these urges. What can ya do?

I knew it was going to be a hawt night when my favorite spot on Red Hot Jackpots was open. Jiggled into place and immediately got a couple of 4 symbol bonus rounds...worked my money up to 300 dollars in no time. Taught a gal and her sister how to play and (of course), they stayed instead of wandering off like they said and won the second to highest progressive.

*bonks self but s'okay*

So, that bank died and wandered over to Hot Shots...a game I've become very leery of but decided to give it a try...end of the gaming day and all...and I hit part of the Double Jackpot! Not all of it...sigh, but 400 more dollars! This was about three spins into it, mind you. WOOT.

Then I got brave and tried the Quick Hits...immediately got all the Triple Sevens on the bottom line for a quick hundred...wasn't doing much so was going to cash out but then hit the bonus about 4x in a row and started going nuts on me. Got the five Hits a bunch and managed to get the six once. Then it died stone cold on me.

Talk about hellatious TEASER spins! ZOMG! There were a few times I got one on reel one, two on reel two, then NADA. And a lot of times I got reel three then NADA. I think if I hit all nine+, I'd be listening for Seven Trumpets, cuz the world would be a'n endin'!!!

Not bad taking about sixty dollars in freeplay up to about six hundred dollars, including drinks and snacks, though! And as much as I HATE Bally Games for pays, we don't have a whole lot of options in progressives...that or one IGT at ONE casino or bingo games. Happy Holiyads...er, HOLIDAYS to you and yours!

set up independently from the other side...and I wish ours was that way, too!

The last SEVERAL times I've played these, someone on the OTHER side has turned the sound off, taken the 300 dollar progressive, and left quietly.

So here we are on OUR side, and the machines die...and we look up and oh.

The money's gone.

GRRRRR.

THEN, the quiet lil jack*ss will come back later, when the progressive is up therem, and try to do it again. I've gotten quite wise to this now, though.

If someone takes it, I'm outta there!

I agree with others to try the open machines looking for one thats ready to pay. I hardly play this one now, but , it used to be rather addicting and I ended up, chasing my money away one day.

One particular machine always seemed to be ready to give me money. I could plug in a 20 and cash out over 100, every time I sat at that machine. Well, one day, no matter how many 20's I put in there, nothing. The lower pot would always trigger a bonus between 10 and 15, this day, nothing and it was approaching 30. As long as I was there, I never did see it bonus, and I walked away from them for probably six months.

One day I happened to notice a new bank of them in another room, tied into the same progressives. I don't know if they had been there before or not. I sat down and put a 20 in and cashed out over 120. So, now if there are other players, I will go to that machine, but, will never put more than 20 into a single machine again.

Oh, these are a 1.00 max bet machine. for the bonus games, .60 gives wilds and 7's.

The Meadows Racino have a group of 10 Red Hots and they see some decent play throuhgout the day. The machines are .02 with max play at $2.00. If I am not mistaken you have to play max bet to be awarded any of the progressive prizes, though at lower bets you can get the bonus spins with lower level pays. These machines do cycle the tops prize often enough that I do play them and have got to the next to the top prize once. There are many pictures of people who have won the top prize and the highest being arond $23,000.

I was able to hit the top progressive on this at Harrahs in St. Louis. This was about 3 years ago and I hit it by getting the five symbols on the main game. The casinos seem to have change how they pay. When they first got them where I go they used to pay all three amounts when you started at the lowest jackpot and made it to the 3rd slot now they will pay either the 1st level and 3rd (If you start off with three) or 2nd level and thirs if you start with 4

Red Hot can have great winning streaks with very frequent 3+ red hots making you eligible for those eight free spins. That along with a single bank progressive (which others hopefully build-up for you to hit) and high hit frequency makes this a great machine play... Congrats!
