View Full Version : WOF 25 cent progressive jumped to over 5.6 million
Usually every time I'm at one of the local casinos here I will play a $20 or so in the 25 cent Wheel of Fortune progressives. The ones here in AZ start at $100,000 and seem to hit by $150,000. They tend to hit about twice per month on average too- these are the same for the one line, five line or nine line versions.
I was at Fort McDowell this evening playing the same machine that I won $400 on last week and noticed that not only did the machine still not pay out the progressive, but all of the sudden the top jackpot is sitting at 5.6 million on all of the quarter versions.
I spent a lot playing them today, thought if there was ever a time to win this its now, of course I haven't won it yet.
The IGT website that displays the progressives still says that its at $153,000 or so. I'm curious why it has jumped up so much. I would assume there was some other progressive that was added in, but would think it would go to the dollar version? Anyone else notice this?
I'm going to probably make it to another casino this week, curious if its the same at all of them. I can't imagine that Fort McDowell had an extra 5 million sitting around where they would add this.
No one else seemed to notice either, these games weren't any busier than usual.

Sounds like this may be a case of the dreaded "malfunction" syndrome, be careful.

Yes, that is exactly what I have been looking at.
They have three quarter denom versions, all three had the same jackpot amount that were showing and growing.

Smells like a lawsuit.
The website has since been updated, it does show under Arizona that its over 5.6 mil - http://www.megajackpots.com/big-jackpots.aspx
That is by far the biggest jackpoint I have ever found on the quarter version. I'm going to give it a few more tries, now that it appears correct.

I dont understande, how can they just add millions to a progressive like that? you say it usually hits under 200 grand but now its 5.6 million thats red flag right thare .

Any time they close down a game without a progressive being won, the funds that were raised by that progressive must be funneled into a similar progressive. One or more progressives totaling $5m+ most likely were not won, and thus added to the Wheel progressive.

I figured out what happened- on the website listing the progressives, there was a cash ball progressive that was over 5 million. It now shows on the site at zero. Whatever casino that had that must have gotten rid of the machine, so they just threw it in the WOF. The WOF hits often enough that someone around here is going to be very lucky soon.

yes, different jurisdictions have different rules regarding the transfer of progressive jackpots that haven't been won. if you're playing in arizona, that sounds like it might be a native american casino. i have no idea what their pact with the state dictates. but it certainly sounds like they may have closed down a bank of $1 or $5 progressives and transferred the jackpot to the 25 cent machines. that represents great short term value, with the chance to hit a jackpot 5X its normal size for playing max bet on a quarter machine.

No, what they did was move the 5 million from Cash Ball into the 25 cent WOF, that's why the jackpot on WOF jumped so much.

That's nuts! I saw the WOF quarter jackpot hit 8 million+ here in Vegas back in 2002. We were playing it at Barbary Coast and on 1 spin the first 2 WOF symbols locked in and then after what seemed like forever the third reel stopped on a double bar with the WOF symbol right above it, we almost had a heart attack and were pretty pissed at coming that close lol!

Sounds like they have rolled another Progressive into this one. Good luck!!
This thing still hasn't hit, its almost 5.7 million now. I have been trying it whenever I find one open, but everyone else is playing them too. I was able to win a few hundred though playing the other day.

Sounds like a Wizard of Odds question, but could this be a positive expectation game at this point? Without the PAR sheets it may be hard to tell, but has to be close.

hope you get that jackpot, good luck
Someone hit this on Friday, saw it is reset back at $104,000 today so I'm guessing it was about 2 days ago. I haven't found any info on which casino, but it wasn't me.
Update- found it, this guy won 5.7 million on Friday the 13th at Casino Arizona-

If there is a sudden gigantic increase in some mega progressive, its due to the transfer of another progressives built-up bank to a "similar" valued games. Its very hard to know when this actually happens so its up to our eyes to catch it.
