I've been reading here for several weeks, so I probably should introduce myself. I've played slots for many years, from NY to FL to CA to MI. Many of the casinos that have been mentioned here, I've played at. I used to play exclusively blackjack, but for some reason, have transferred that passion to the slots. I guess it's the music and the lights (ever dream of the music from your favorite machine?). I like the 'Tada-Tada-Tada' of Mr. Cashman, or the "Happy Days" theme, or the Americana Original's "Stars and Stripes", and many a morning wake up singing them. I've had much luck throughout the years and of course, much bad luck to go with it playing these one-armed bandits. I started playing the 3-reels, and then found the bonus machines, which is what I mostly play now. Pennies, seem to be my latest, betting small, hit a bonus, raise my bet, hit another bonus, raise my bet, hit another bonus, etc. etc. It's worked for me anyway. I've learned alot from this forum, and have tried some of your suggestions.. just last weekend, I hit a $300 bonus on a 50 Lions at Seneca (my latest hangout). Was just getting ready to make that 70-mile trip home as a $140 loser, put in my last $20, and got the bonus and that big hit. I cashed it out so fast and headed out to the parking lot with a big smile on my face. Anyway... I just wanted to say a quick hello! Enjoy your weekends!

Welcome Grandma, you sound like a slot veteran for sure. Your start as a 3 reeler to now the pennies sounds like me- without the blackjack part. I've really learned a lot here in a fairly short time. Congratulations on your 50 Lions win. Nothing like a losing trip home turning into a winning trip home.

Thanks, Grandma, for your great story of slots experiences and strategies. So glad you've joined our happy forum and look forward to hearing more from you in the future!
Maybe I should try 50 Lions again next week - haven't had success there before but your win on last $20 suggests that I might do well to try again. :~)

Hi Grandma....I used to live in WNY and have visited Seneca and the Niagara Falls casinos. I, too, used to play mostly blackjack and have now been drawn to the fancy penny slots. Just recently on trips to New Orleans and Biloxi and last week to Tunica and Vicksburg, MS and Shreveport, LA, I have gone back to playing a lot more blackjack. I had some losing sessions but overall the money was much better at cards than machines and my bankroll lasted a lot longer. Much more social, also. When I did play slots I decreased my bet from what I normally play and had some surprisingly good wins. I think I am hooked on cards again.

Thank you all for nice welcome! Yes... a Grandma to 7.5 little ones (another grandson coming in April). I do have several good stories, and will definitely share them along the way. Deb, I just needed to tell you that the "Poppie" and I have been to many very nice casinos on our travels, but my very favorite of them has to be Pauma! We spent many a night there, playing their $2.00 blackjack tables, and then the Cleopatra machines, dancing in our seats to the many singing groups they had there, and their cobb salad is to die for! Haven't had one as good as Pauma's ever since! I almost fell off the couch when I read that someone else knows of it.. since it's hidden back in the hills of Southern California. We just happened on it when we were out for a ride one day.
Oh yes Pauma!!!! love that little hole in the wall casino! I am so glad to find someone else to that is fond of it too. I have not had their Cobb salad but I will try it now! I am a big salad freak! You know that place in really nothing much to look at BUT it is totally worth every minute! We drove by there so many times going from Rincon to Pala and I couldn't get my husband to go check it out and finally one day he was willing to stop. That was it for us, now even when we stay at Pala we spend 1/2 of our time at Pauma since it is only 5 minutes away. Sooo much fun!!! I hope you get to come back out here one day and go back to Pauma, how long has it been?

Oh.... it's been about 7 years since we were out West. We lived in Mission Viejo for awhile, but Poppi got transferred to Florida, so off we went. Yes, Pala (I won a nice hit there on a 5cent Cleopatra getting 3 beatles and 2 Cleos - I think it was $750, if I recall), Rincon, and Pechanga when it was just a small series of module trailers. And then the San Diego casinos, trying to think... Barona and Viejas...where they had a lot of penny machines before they were really popular like they are now. Pauma though, was our favorite, the people there were always very nice. They could see us coming... probably a couple of times a month we made it there. I'm sure it's changed quite a bit since then though.
I don't think it changed all that much. I mean some new slots maybe but that place has been the same old "shack" (I mean that lovingly) forever! Did they have the pizza window when you went? Their promotions most likely have changed too. They have a $250 hot seat every hour where they choose a machine randomly and give whoever is playing on it $250 and they have a kiosk called Mr. Moohla where you swipe your card and can win up to $1000. I think they just started a new hot seat that is for December that is $500 . It is a pretty cool little place!

Welcome to the forum Grandma. It's a great group and very informative. I am a granma too, 3 of the most wonderful grandchildren ever 2 girls and 1 boy. I would play blackjack more, except that the lowest denomination table they have at the Hard Rock is $10 a hand, and that is to rich for me.

Welcome to the forum Grandma, look forward to your input from your many travels. I am pretty much anything within a 3 hour ride. It just happens that there are over 20 casinos within that zone. 7 grandkids myself with a set of twins, all under 9. My kids tell me there done having kids, thank goodness, this was starting to cut into my gambling budget LOL

It sounds like there are quite of few of us "grandmas" and "grandpas" on here.. and yes, Pappy, I do hear ya! LOL! Christmas is so much fun, watching the little ones tear open their presents. We have 5 little boys (8, 5, 4, 3, and 1, and the newest one coming in April 2010)... thank goodness we have a couple of girls (15 and 9 mths) to buy little girlie things for. :) I wonder if they'd like TITOs for Christmas! LOL!
