View Full Version : CATS discussion
Hi guys,
Does anyone feel as strongly about Cats as I do? I love the concept, I want to love the payouts, but I can't.
Reasons to love it:
- Crazy lines mean nice combination pays
- Lots of wilds
- Double symbols provide interesting pays
- Cool sounds/graphics
Reasons to hate it:
- Hard to trigger bonus
- Bonus can pay virtually nothing
- 10 symbols (5 symbols doubled) doesn't pay much. ** KEY **
I love Cats. I really do. But I think getting the 10 symbols does not pay nearly as much as it should. That's my dilemma for not playing it.
Thoughts?!!?
I tried it for the first time this past week at Empire City. I was never drawn to it before, although I saw others did well on it. It paid well, but nothing to make me smiling to the bank. I agree w/Kyle ... for me it can be a love/hate.

If the IGT game has a tiny logo for "High5Games" in the bottom right corner of the glass I walk away.
High 5 Games is a third party company who makes games for IGT. While the games look interesting and absolutely beautiful, the math tends to pull towards ultra volatile, with hard to trigger bonuses. Especially for me I have never won on a high5 game.
Betti the Yetti
Russian Treasure
Maggie and The Martians (captain payback)
Cats (and all Cats math variants)
Twin Win
Liger Loot
Hoot Loot

The photo realistic art in the 2008 line up looks absolutely jaw dropping. Art wise it's obvious why sirens does better than cave king.

My husband absolutely loves CATS. He plays it all the time. He has hit 5 wilds twice. Once was for $100 on a 30 cent best and the other time was for $200 on a 60 cent bet.
Tonight I was down to my last $20 and decided to play while I waited for Denny. I literally played on that $20 for 2 hours (betting 30 cents or 60 cents) and finally left with $30. The potential is there. I have had some good hits, but when it goes cold it is very cold!

I have to admit, I have not taken a look at the paytables though. I will try to remember to do that next time I am in the casino.... whenever that will be:(

It's funny the only reason played this is because of Zims videos. The problem is all I did when I tried it was cough up a fur ball. Felt sorry for the staff who had to clean up after me. ;)

Wow...never knew about High5 and now I'll know to look for it. Thankx!
Turns out every game you listed except for one, I hate. Probably not a coincidence. They don't pay. Bonuses are horrible. Triggers are confusing and/or rare.
The exception is Russian Treasure. That one's fun and I've done well on it several times.

I agree completely, it seems like the bonuses are horrible with all of these games. Low variance and an OUTSIDE, TINY chance at a jackpot.

There is a game about dogs. It is a clone of Kitty Glitter and is called Maltese Fortune. Here is a bonus round from a hit my husband had.

Hi sdguy1234:
Some symbols have a single animal, some have two animals. The WILDS count as two. The pay table is standard, and the BONUS is free spins. It's pretty basic stuff. Surely, this game is not too sophisticated for most players ...?

Cats and Princess of Paradise are low volatility games without much potential for huge wins. I have learned that as I have gave them both some play. I have done occasionally alright but the game is a disappointment. The bonus is hard to hit and when you do there is no chance to retrigger spins and theres no multiplier and its hard to get much to line up. While you get 2x your bet when you achieve 4 bonus symbols you get nothing for 5, or 6 exept 5 and 10 spins respectively. I would recommend the game for someone that wanted to stretch their bankroll or just looking to kill time. Don't expect any jackpots on that game it simply won't happen unless you were betting 30 x 10 in 5c denomination. I always get a good laugh if passing by the game and someone lands the bonus and they get super excited because I know the reaction is going to be once their bonus is over. They usually get upset and feel cheated when they win two three bucks on a 30 c bet.

Hi Traber:
I had my doubts that CATS was a low volatility machine -- because the lines pays can pay quite about. However, indeed -- you are correct. Here is a link to the IGT site:
https://www.igt.com/GamingGroup/Games/game_detail.asp?pid=5.113.120&type_id=6656
Even more interesting ... there is a MULTIPLAY version of the game:
https://www.igt.com/GamingGroup/Games/game_detail.asp?pid=5.113.120&type_id=7980
Has anyone played it yet?
I'm a bit surprised that IGT is continuing down the MULTIPLAY path, because the first ones I played (Wolf Run and Cleopatra) just just glorified versions of playing 4 machines at once).

played Cats for the first time last week, I bonused 3 times, which was nice, but each time I was down a lot more then the bonus wins. You couldn't get ahead of the credit loss. That was a sign to me to cash out.
I happen to love Cats. I would not however deem it a low volatility game. I would think it would be higher... hence me liking it! lol Anyway, I would however NOT play the multi-play version if I saw it. I really don't care for those no matter the theme or game.

to be honest, i dont like the idea of having 5 free spins bonus on any game... bonus is so hard to catch and after trying long time you get 5 spins and its nothing...
give us 10 or 15 spins so at least we can say i have seen bonus round.. lol
thats why i dont play cats, wolf run, cayote, etc...
also hate that getting bonus for 5 bonus symbols... jeeezzz...
i dont care if they have same possibilities to catch 3 or 5 symbols, its so annoying...

So the Yads was bored around 5 pm last nite, and had a tattered ten dollar freeplay coupon for Little Creek Resort -n- Cash-in, er, CaSino...
So she creeps on down the I-5 parking lot, er, corridor...
And finally arrives with her shorn and torn ticket...
And wanders about, playing Cha/Million and Choy Sun Doa and 5 Dragons and winning lots on Cha/Million and the others, not so much...
When she wanders through ALL the new games into a bank of CATS!!!
Zomg, and it was EM-PTY! *oh, the JOY!*
So she sits down and adjusts her boTTom into the chair and cautionly and judiciously [yeah, RIGHT!] slams her tito in and starts spinnin' like crazy...
And a crowd forms, all the senior ladies want to see if the Yads can hit the bonus...
So she spins and she spins and she cusses all ladylike with euphamisms...
And she gets three paws!
...
And nothin'.
Now she's puzzled.
So she spins and spins and gets 4 paws. Scatter. 4 paws. Scatter. Meanwhile, the seniors are cheering her on.:(
So finally, the Yads hits SIX PAWS for ten spins!
And she's stoked:
And hits, nothin'.
So the Yads, in her best royal WE, announces that we are NEVER going to play this (blankety blank) game again: And hits.
TEN LEOPARDS. And got all her monies back.
And cashed out and RAN!!!:D
After all, the Yads didn't expect to play six HOURS on ten dollars, have three Coronas AND DINNER included...and leave with 8 dollars of their money to spare!!!
Very profitable, tiring, and exasperating trip.
~Yads, confuzzled by TOO many NEW games at once!!!

High 5 Games is a third party company who makes games for IGT. While the games look interesting and absolutely beautiful, the math tends to pull towards ultra volatile, with hard to trigger bonuses. Especially for me I have never won on a high5 game.

Cats is great but the rest of High5Games? Can't get to the Bonus round. Waste of Time and Money. Personally, I would rather play Wolf Run or Cleopatra.

This is one of the first games I had to read the directions for. I played the princess version. I could not understand why I didn't get the bonus when three symbols came up and then got ten games when six symbols appeared. The graphics are great, but just 5 free spins, I think I will spend my money elsewhere.

I have been loving Cats lately. I've had both good luck getting smaller wins (so I can continue playing longer), and some pretty good big line wins ($35-60 on a 30-cent spin). I've done pretty well at most of the machines played at various casinos, so it seems like it's pretty consistent, payout-wise. Now, that said, Noah's Ark SUCKS. I have absolutely NONE of the same luck on it as on Cats. Weird. It has the same pay table, you say?
I did get to play the Cats multi-play, with the four screens at Four Winds in Michigan. It's located near the Jungle Wild II that DH loves. I usually avoid these, since the amount needed to play is beyond my budget. However, Cats was much more affordable for me, I think 15 lines each, so I could play 4 screens for 60 cents. The payout, though, wasn't as lucky for me as the single screen game.
I guess I like the games you mentioned by High 5. Some of them are my faves; Russian Treasure, Betti the Yetti.. Also love my Kitty Glitter and finally got to play Maltese Fortune in NM, which is so funny, since I have a Maltese mix myself now. (Although he's nowhere near as Foo-Foo as the ones depicted in the game!)

Recently, I like to play CATS. Although the bonus round (esp. when 5 spins only) end up with small winnings only, the line wins on base game pay better. It is not difficult to get line wins of around 700 to 1000 plus credits with min. line bet of 30 credit. With 3 cells with same double symbols or wilds, you can get 6 of a kind wins (and most often with more than one line win). There are a lot of wilds (though not stacked). It seem this game is very streaky. I would get a lot of 6 to 9 of a kind of the animals in a row. Then, later on, hard to find any animals on the left side.

I don't care for this game. Not volatile enough. Nearly as boring as bingo except bingo I have a minute chance a hitting a jackpot. Captain payback is a joke as well. The only way to win at that game is to line up the expanding wilds. I agree you can play this game for quite a while

Hi doncorleone:
With all respect to our friends at High 5 Games, I will pass on CAPT. PAYBACK as well. I also find it difficult to win. There is a lack of "game depth" that I enjoy in slots. No complaints about the graphics, animation or sound. Excitement is a lot about anticipation.

I know this is an old thread but since Cats is one of my favorites I just had to comment. I say it’s a “favorite,” but it’s more for the wildcats than for the payouts. I agree with everyone else, the bonus pretty much sucks, you can do much better on a lucky line hit. We’ve often said that even if you only get 3 paws you should still get some free spins. What were they thinking? The best we ever did was one night at Borgota, we put in a $20 and cashed out around $90 and played for a long time. We continue to play it because we like the cats, but won’t invest a lot of time or money into it.
