Default New Mexico Casinos

I live in Texas and there are no casinos here so I usually go to New Mexico. There are two casinos there that I go to outisde of Santa Fe: Camel Rock Casino and Cities of Gold Casino. I really had a blast there playing the slots and some blackjack.

I haven't actually been to any of the casinos in New Mexico, but I guess depending on where you live in Texas, those might be closer than casinos in Louisiana or in Oklahoma even. Depending on where in the state you live.

I'm totally amazed that there are no casinos in Texas. Why is that? I would have thought that a place with cowboys there would be gambling too. Is it because there are too many lobbyist?

Up until recent years there were 2 or 3 Indian casinos here, but not anymore. They've all been shut down. The Texas Treasure Cruise still runs out of Port Aransas, but that's about it as far as the casinos go here.

Yeah, luckily I am in Amarillo and I can drive about 3-4 hours to reach a casino in New Mexico. The drive is really pretty for part of it so that isn't too bad. And when I get to New Mexico I gain an hour so that is cool, but coming home sucks because I lose an hour.

Most of us never leave the ranch, so it's hard for the casinos to make much money.

Are they Indian casinos? Native Indian Casinos? I always think of New Mexico as a place to get hikes or cactus juice or see Canyons or caves. Not slots.

There are actually quite a few Indian Casinos in New Mexico. Here is a list of just a few:

Sky City Casino
Camel Rock Resort Casino
Apache Nugget Casino
Moapa Band Tribal Enterprise Casino

I have been to the Camel Rock and it is a blast. It is in Santa Fe. That is the closest location for me to go to. But, there are some in Albuquerque, Taos, San Fidel, and even more cities.
