Personally, I have never been in one.
Some casinos hold slot tournaments daily. These are usually for tourists or just someone that has a little amount of money that wants to join. They rope off slots for the tournament. Some casinos just do the tournaments for high rollers and they are invitation only. And the entry fees to these can be up to thousands of dollars. I think everyone starts with a certain amount of money, and then there is a certain amount of time everyone plays. I guess the winner is determined by the most amount won. Or even by the most amount of points earned. |

hmmph. i've never been to a live casino slot tournament, but i seldom make it to a live casino so it's not a shock that i've never timed it right.
i have played in dozens of them online though. you pay a fee (some are free), and you receive tournament credits on a particular machine. there is a set period of time you can play, and after the time runs out, whoever has the most credits wins. at least that's the way they run them at english harbour. since it's an online casino, they give you stats on who's in what place with how many credits, and you can adjust your play according to that. i don't know if there are leaderboards at live events. there's some bankroll mamagement in it, but if you're on a cold machine, what can you do? so, there's certainly a large dose of luck involved as well. the fun part, for me, is that you can get in a lot of spins for a fixed price. |

Yeah I don't know if I would get involved in a tournament because I would have absolutely no control over what is going on. You don't know if you are on a good machine. And, you can't just stop and change machines. That could be very frustrating. I would rather just play on my own for fun and take my chances. If anyone has been in a tournament at a casino, I would be really interested in how you did and how you felt during the tournament.

Well I was in a couple of invitational ones many years ago. You get invited based on how much you spend on slots when you are in town and how much you have credited to your player's card.
They are nerver racking and furiously played. The players who did it all the time, you could tell cause they wore gloves and had something rigged up so they could smoke without using their hands and all they did, and all I did in order to keep up, was hit the spin button over and over and over again without stop. You didn't wait to see what you got you just kept hitting it so you could get in the most spins in the time alloted. One of them was done in stages. Where you would play for so long and the top 10 would go on to the next round. There were about 5 first rounds so that the second round had 50 people and the third round had the last lot of people play and the winners were taken from the top 10 of the last round. I don't know that I would have the energy today to play them though. Also it has a lot to do with luck not skill. Although all slots are really a game of luck. As a point of interest, I think I posted about this in another thread, if anyone is in the Toronto area or Niagara Falls area and is interested in trying out a slot tournament I have a free entry ticket for Casino Niagara for any of there weekday tournaments. I think they are held every Monday and Wednesday. Monday I'm sure about but not too sure on the Wednesday one.

I am sure doing this would be such a rush. I am now thinking about giving one a shot. How would I find more information about tournaments at a casino in Vegas? I bet the people that do it all of the time get a rhythm going and they win the most. But, since I don't play slots often I would have to get in one that isn't by invitation. I wonder what it would cost me to get into one this January in Vegas. Do they have them daily, weekly, monthly? I will have to research this.
