I'm still researching these slot machine payouts in different areas, and this month's Strictly Slots magazine has a list of areas in Nevada along with their corresponding payback percentages. I've listed some of that information below, and maybe it will help you pick out a place to play. These are the payouts for the nickel slot machines:
The Boulder Strip 94% (This was the top payout percentage.) Mesquite 93.5% Lake Tahoe 92.4% North Las Vegas 92.3% Reno 92.2% Downtown Las Vegas 90.6% Laughlin 89.3% Las Vegas Strip 88.8% After looking these numbers over, I think next time I'm in Vegas, I'll play at the Boulder Strip or Downtown, and just visit the Strip casinos for the shows and stuff. Although the Las Vegas Strip was the big winner for $100 slots, with a payout of 95.4%. At the same time, I can't afford to make $100 slot pulls.

Wow, that is really great information. I didn't even really think to look for that. I am going to Vegas in January and that information was very helpful. I have jotted it down for future reference. Where is the Boulder Strip?

To get an up to date listing for Nevada Progressives, may I recommend a site
called 'a2zlasvegas.com'. It shows when the last progressive paid out and what the current amount is ...its accurate within a few hours. I use it as a guidepoint for both the game that is due to hit and which casino is due . Someone mentioned the BoulderStations in another post...I would deter such places as they have tighten these belts and have less winners on a variety of machines. Some of the greater % payouts are found in the local owned casinos in vegas, The Cannery is one of my side spots when I dont feel like being down at the strip . Red Rock ( which is apart of the 'Station" properties) is an upscale failure for low payouts and layout of casino floor. You run in circles literally! Since the casino floor is not to be confused with the ambiance of the hotel or the grounds, I shall leave it to the avid gamer to decide if a casino is a winning place to be. |

Actually, I'm familiar with that site and don't mind posting a hard link to it: http://www.a2zlasvegas.com/. Tell 'em Slotty sent you.

I'm a big fan of Sams Town in Las Vegas ... on the Boulder Strip. I seem to have the best luck there --- and they have one of the best selections of machines.

You can check out the www.wmsgaming.com site for information on all of their games. I can not find a new, "Life of Luxury 3" ... but it does appear they are re-releasing, "Life of Luxury Classic" in the Bluebird cabinet. Appart from slightly improved graphics, you can play 20 or 25 lines (instead of the normal 9 line version). /\/\/\/\ the Shamus /\/\/\/\ |

Slot machine payout percentages are set at the factory. The manufacturer will offer a certain type of slot in various denominations in with a variety of payout percentages. For example, a casino might order 25 cent "Blazing 7's" slots with an 86.7% payback. Or it might order the same slot with an 89.5% payback percentage. The casino bases the payback percentage on several factors. In super competitive s like Atlantic City or Las Vegas, where results are published frequently, a casino cannot afford to lag too far behind its competition. Therefore, it has to set its machines close to the level set by nearby competitors.

==================== Hey Nickysam: While Las Vegas may seem competitive, there are only a few companies who control most of the big casinos on the strip. The MGM casinos tend to have very similar payback percentages. From my experience, the Las Vegas strip is not much better (if at all) than my local race track slots in Ontario, Canada. Nickels here are set to around 91.5% for your typical stand-alone IGT video slot. /\/\/\/\ the Shamus /\/\/\/\ |
