The parent of Gulfstream Park has gained state permission to operate slot machines at its thoroughbred racetrack in Hallandale Beach.
Aurora, Ont.-based Magna Entertainment Corp. (NASDAQ: MECA) said late Friday that Florida awarded it a gaming license. The company said it is proceeding with developing the slots facility at Gulfstream and expects to have 516 slot machines installed and operational within the next several weeks. Gulfstream is one of the four Broward County pari-mutuels that can install slot machines, following amendments statewide voters approved in November 2004 and Broward voters approved in March 2005. The facilities can have up to 1,500 Las Vegas-style slot machines.

Hey that's great since poker there is a laugh. I played at the dog track (I don't remember which one) when I visited friends of mine. They only allow no fold'em hold'em. Maximum $2 bet.
As far as the tracks go.. all the tracks in Ontario have pretty well been converted to horseracing and slots. So it makes for a fun day. You can watch your money run away in two different ways HAHAHAHAHA

Have you been to any American horseracing tracks? Just wondered how they compared to the Canadian versions?
