Whenever I get down on the slots I usually go play a few hands of blackjack to get my money back. I love blackjack just as much as slots. I have won more money at blackjack, but I will never hit it big with blackjack, and it is a possibility with the slots.

Yep you got that right. Being a big winner at BlackJack is up there with winning the lottery. The odds for the house are much greater at a blackjack table than at a poker game. Even though the slots don't hit big often if you play smart you can usually end up pretty much even if not ahead of the game.

I think the way casinos make money is that they encourage people to play the games where they feel like they will win.
Blackjack can have this feeling. |

Has anyone tried the new tournament blackjack format? It seems like this has been getting a push recently, especially with the Ultimate Blackjack Tour airing most Saturday afternoons on CBS.

I never play blackjack alone anymore. I used to think it was all in being careful - but I went with a group of friends that play regularly and they all have their favorite table positions. They gave me an education on how to beat the house so the whole table wins.
Certain players are better at certain seats than others - for instance I am a good "centerfield" player and I am wise to NEVER play "third base" and I am not comfortable at "first base" What that means is I do best when I have at least 2 before me and 2 after. Third base - the last player before the dealer - is considered by many to be the most important player on the table becuase if you have an idiot in the middle who hits on 16 then the players after have to adjust their play. The idea is that everyone on the table stay in and you you force the dealer to bust and pay the whole table. So if the guy at 3rd hits on 16 when the dealer has anything over 13, he's probably just taken the dealers bust card and the dealer usually ends up filling his hand and the whole table loses. So when we play in groups we play our positions and we may sacrifice a hand here and there to make the dealer bust and pay the rest of us. You can't win every hand - but if you make the dealer bust 9 out of 10 hands then the whole group ends up ahead. ( I think that's where they started to use the baseball analogy - baseball is the only sport to recognize a sacrifice play - the sac fly) I know that to many it sounds like superstition - but blackjack is the one game that you can see this - if you watch the next hands cards you'll know who would have had what if it was played differently. I didn't believe and they showed me. We started with $50 each and walked out with a table total of almost $4,000 among 7 players. We went to dinner and split it all up evenly. I believe NOW. Well I have never heard it in baseball terms before but that makes a lot of sense. I do know that if the dealer is showing like a 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 only one person at the table needs to take 1 hit and 1 hit only if they take more than one hit then the dealer will not bust. We play so that the lowest hand takes the hit and hopefully not bust and it works every time. The dealer busts.
If more than 1 player takes the hit then you know that person is ignorant about the game of blackjack and we usually change tables.

Yup. The other pet peeve of mine is "drive-by's". Nothing worse than catching the right shoe and it's runnin hot for the whole table and then some idiot comes by for a single hand, usually plays it bad and busts out, and then the shoe turns against us. It NEVER fails! It's gotten so when we are all together, since I'm in the centerfield I am the "designated sitter" If some fool comes in for a drive by I don't bet to keep the number of hands the same. If he does something stupid and then decides to stay for a few hands - which they do sometimes, then I can sit in or out to try to keep the shoe in our favor.
