Default UK opposes us ban on gambling

Britain is regulating Internet gambling and opposes the U.S. government's banning of the industry.

Sports minister Richard Caborn told a news conference that the government would not protect UK online gaming executives from extradition requests if they took Internet bets from countries in which they were illegal.

"People have to abide by the laws of particular countries," he said. "We will not acknowledge people who operate illegally."

Caborn spoke at the Ascot summit of 32 international delegates, for regulation to protect consumers, prevent underage gambling and gambling addiction.

The United States has banned online gaming at the end of September in a move that wiped billions of pounds off the share prices of Internet gaming companies such as PartyGaming and 888.

Prior to passing the new legislation, U.S. authorities had arrested gaming executives from two UK-listed online gaming companies -- David Carruthers from BETonSPORTS and Peter Dicks from Sportingbet -- during visits to the country.

Does this mean Euro gamblers are worse than American gamblers?

I don't think that European players are any worse than a lot of U.S. players. However, from what I have seen they seem to be more hungry for the win and in some cases have colluded and chip dumped in games with their buddies.

I was speaking to a Romanian who plays very well and he has told me how many of the people he knows who play with go to any lengths to get to the money.

Now if that means they are worse than the American donks then the answer is yes. I'm not so sure that they are worse than the teen players and young adult players who will try anything to make a name for themselves. There have been a few players who have been caught having 2, 3, 4 and even 5 different accounts and go into the same tournaments under different names. Most of them have been caught at this by now and most sites are really watching them. Does this make them better players... NO DEFINITELY NOT.

But that is talking mostly about poker and when it comes to slot playing I don't think that anyone has an advantage in their playing or are better or worse players at the slot machines which could explain why the Casinos seem to attract more "young" poker players than "young" slot players.
