Last night (Saturday), we had our first poker home tournament that came completely from the board. It was held at Jeremiah's (ALL-IN) house in Manassas. We had two no limit Texas Hold'em poker tournaments and a cash game in between.
The tournaments started with 4,000 in chips and 15 minute blinds. The blinds started at 25/50 and had the same values as a Red, White, and Blue Poker League game. The buy-in was $20 and we tried out the $5 bounty we had seen at the Nova Poker Group. The cash (ring) game was a 25 cent small blind and 50 cent large blind played with a different style of chip. The average buy-in was $5 for the ring game. The first tournament had nine players, the second tournament had six. We paid out to the top three for the first game and the top two for the second game. Merle, the bartender from Addy's won the first game. I think it was Jay (fakecream) who won the second game. When the winner first tried to tip out to Jeremiah for hosting the game he wouldn't accept it, but we assured him it was proper poker etiquette for the owner of the house to be tipped by the winner. We used Tournament Director software to time the blinds. The payouts were structured as First Game First Place 50% Second Place 30% Third Place 20% Second Game First Place 70% Second Place 30% The players included Jeremiah (ALL-IN), Brian, Karen, Arion, Jay (fakecream), Merle, Don Hoeting, a friend of Jeremiah's, and Robert. Don got 10 Poker Reputation points because I have now played with him in a home game and at Addy's. Jeremiah got 40 Poker reputation points because I have played with him at Addy's, in a home game, and he hosts a home game. We will probably play again in two weeks, and plan to have about double the number of people. |
