i have just started playing online poker but i do not seem to have the same luck as i have when playing ordinary poker with friends... i think with all the software that goes into the design there must be some kind of trick to make less winners...

I don't trust online gambling...period. I think if you're playing poker online for fun or to learn it's fine. Playing live is more of an experience for me and you get to see everything and not having a computer determining your cards. If you get a bad beat playing live, you know it's legit. If you get a bad beat online, you will always wonder if it's a scam. Don't put yourself in all that stress and just play with your friends or at a casino. But this is just my opinion on online gambling.

I've been playing online poker for years, and I love it. There's no such thing as luck in poker though, so it's impossible for you to have more or less luck than with your friends. It's all just standard deviation. Once you've played enough hands (and you can track everything online using something like PokerTracker) you'll become comfortable that the cards are coming in a truly random fashion.

Its been big news recently that some guy who worked for an online poker company had cracked the software and he was able to see other players cards.
But in general I dont think its fixed. If it was fixed too many people would have realised it by now and the newspapers woulod have undercover reporters working for online poker firms. your just going through a bad streak! luck isnt consistant!

I guess it depends on what your definition of fixed is ?
Do you consider a slot machine that has a 92% payback fixed ? In escessence a slot with aforementioned percentage will take in 8% guarenteed. Some people will take out more than they put in, but ultimately the machine wins. All you have to do is find players... If you think about Party Poker or other online games. There is nothing illegal about charging someone a fee to play a game. Heck a Pinball charges 50c. So if the house takes in $2.00 a shot the house just needs to find people to play and they win Its not gambling.Even if games are not rigged per say. You get four people playing online and three of them get on the phone sharing information in the background and the fourth guy becomes your patsy. Hand signaling happens happens all the time in poker rooms at the casinos between players. This is why the house doesn't play - they just provide an honest dealer and take in the ante. They use a call system and assign players to random tables to try and elimiate this but they can't entirely. In fact if you talk to any professional poker player the game is less about the cards and more about the "tells" - the ability to read the other players. There are also several states that are looking to define poker as a game of skill. Finally just a bit of trivia under federal gaming laws a video poker machine is defined as a slot. |
