Hi Folks:
Curious to know the names of machines which you have to wait for --- or have a big buzz on the casino floor. /\/\/\/\ the Shamus /\/\/\/\ |

Hi Folks:
At the Niagara Fallsview casino, the low denom (1-cent and 2-cent) machines by WMS gaming, including, Palace of Riches II, Zeus and Brazilian Beauty were constantly the first machines to be filled. WMS Gaming's "Gold Fish" was also still very popular. The Wheel of Fortune: Big Wheel (1-cent) by IGT was also busy (while a 2-cent version of the same machine was a big flop). IGT games like "Moohlah", "Ducks in a Row", "Alien", "Aztec Temple", "Da Vinci Diamonds", "Liger Loot" and plenty more -- were tanking badly. At least 5 of each title ... and almost always available. Atronic is losing floor space ... the "fad" with Konami's octagonal slots appears to be past. The new Konami low limit progressives are not very popular for new machines. /\/\/\/\ the shamus /\/\/\/\ |

Hey All, I find the 2c machines are the hardest to grab a spot - don't know why exactly. Obviously the progressives are impossible to get a seat at in peak hour.
Still, sometimes worth the wait when you get those 30 free spins. ![]()

Interesting comment on the progressives. That is the one type of machine I steer clear of. The payouts on progressives are generally less frequent (so some of each bet can go toward the progressive jackpot. I agree, they must, in general, be popular ... but there are so many on the casino floor these days ... I see a spot empty on half of them. The low denomination games are popular because they compress the winning into fewer spins. For example, if a machine has 100 lines ... this is equal to 100 pulls of a reel on a 1-line machine. All the winning "goodness" is concentrated. Most of those machines hit something at least 30 to 60% of the time. I understand why people like them ... I do not understand how the casinos get away with a lower payback percentage on them. They swallow my money like quarter machines --- and I don't even get back the return as often. /\/\/\/\ the Shamus /\/\/\/\ |

Progressives don't work that way.
Each machine has a set % payback and a paytable. These are strictly regulated and documented with a PAR sheet. So regardless if the machine is connected to a progressive it behaves the exact same way. PAR = Paytable and Reel. It is possible that the casino will set the % to 85.5% which is the lowest that the Nevada laws permit, and as most US states us the Nevada game book - so that they don't have to invest time (money) certifing each machine and PAR this is usually the lowest %. Native casinos are not regulated so they can be much lower. I have seen some casinos state that they pay an average of 92% which means some are 85.5 and others are 98.5. How the progressive do works is that it gets a % of each bet added to the total amount and when the top award is won, you receive the progressive amount that has accumulated. The house take (or hold as it is called) remains exactly the same on the machine. The % contributed to the progressive is normally considered marketing and is written off as an expense on the casino books. Generally speaking that % is 1/8th of 1%. So for every 8 quarters played the progressive goes up about 1cent. Once the progressive is won it goes back to the reset amount which is usually the same as the top award would normally be. So not only does the casino get to write this off it does not affect their normal profit margins. Sometimes the manufacturer will pre-seed an amount on a progressive and will underwrite that for the casino. Ie The Starwars theme came from IGT with 1million pre-seeded on it. If it was won on day 3 obviously the casino would lose out as the machines would not have accumulated 1mm in that short of a time but as IGT wanted those machines on the casinos floors they pre-load 1mm on it, and the casino knows numbers like that draw people so they are then anxious to buy or lease the machine and IGT writes up another sale. |

I wonder if all of the implmentations of progressive machines are the same. For example -- there are progressives self-contained within a single machine (think of "Blazing Sevens"). There are local area network progressives, where a number of similar themed machines are attached (think of WMS Gamings, "Life of Luxury" or "Jackpot Party" progressives) -- and finally the wide area network games, spread over multiple casinos (think of IGT's Mega Millions).
In observing "Life of Luxury" when I am the only person on the network -- indeed, there are preset progressives. Each time I spin, the progressives go up by a very small amount. When I do not spin, the numbers do not change. The lower level progressives are won on an hourly basis. The next level is won several times a day. The next level is won on a daily basis (or several times a week) ... and the top level is won a few times a month. Some machines are available as "stand alone" versions, with "set" payouts, while the same title could be connected as a progressive (think IGT's "Double, Triple Diamond"). From my experience, the progressive version does not pay out as frequently as the stand along version. I assume, when you add in a progressive win, the PAR is likely the same as a stand alone -- however, to most players, who will never win the progressive ... the same ends up with less frequent payouts. /\/\/\/\ the Shamus /\/\/\/\ |

Hi:
If there this slot exists ... it would be available on www.wmsgamng.com. I could not find the game you described, but there is definitely a "Life of Luxury 2" --- and it is also used as a themed Progressive Slot for the "Life of Luxury Progressirves". Good luck with your search. /\/\/\/\ the Shamus /\/\/\/\ |
