Hi Shamus,

What do you think of Microgaming slots? I find them to be really cool, especially Hitman.

Cheers,
Carlos

Hi Carlos.

To be honest, I had never heard of them. I checked out the website ... and almost all of the games are "generic" versions of well known slot machines from the big manufacturers.

Do you play these games? Why do you like them? Is there a way to tell the kind of payback percentage you are getting?

To be honest ... there are some Konami games I really enjoy. There are also some machines which I really dislike.

They make a game called, "Granny's Treasure" which reminds me of running through mud. I never get anywhere with it -- the bonus rounds are mostly small -- and just postpone the machine going to zero. I'm sure there are ways to win big --- I never do.

Another game called, "Star Fever" is just terrible. They have 2 different symbols that pay a miserly 25 coins for getting all 5 symbols. There is a "novel" spinner which goes around the outside of the board that potentially provides a multiplier. The bonus rounds are fairly difficult to get, and rarely pay anything (unless you are lucky enough to get a multiplier). Again, a losing proposition (from my perspective).

I think their best game is "Money in the Bank". The second chance respin for the bonus round is great. The free spins bonus round with the 4x multiplier is great. I actually like, "White Russia" as well, although the bonus round can be really tough to get into (ditto for "3 Wild Bees").

I have definitely won the most money on "Hot Dawgs" -- with 40000 nickels (on an 18-coin bet). However, the game also feels like running on a downward treadmill.

The latest round of Konami games are a lot of fun. As you suggest, the graphics and animations are quite good. I'm not a big fan of the octagonel gaming concept --- because you do not have as much control over the number of lines you play --- and the bonus rounds are few and far between.

Hi Winning Mike ...

How do you know the payback percentage for online slots. That is one of my big worries for online play.

Hello. Great forum. One that I didn't see on the list is AC Coin and Slot. You can read more about them by following a link to my new blog. Please check it out. There's a link to their company website on the right hand side.

Here's my ranked slot list:

#1 By Far Margin:

WMS Gaming - Love the Top Gun / Wizard of Oz sensory immersion slots. 4 of my 5 greatest wins come from their Powerball video machine. All the crazy versions of Monopoly. Too many fun bonuses to count.

2. IGT (Big fan of Double Diamond Run and Shooting Gallery)

3. Bally Tech (Just for coming up with Hot Shot Progressive)

4. AC Coin and Slot (I've enjoyed Slotto and Bankroll)

4. Atronic (Deal or No Deal's not great, but I like King Kong)

5. Aristocrat ( I don't recall seeing these much in AC, more plentiful in Vegas I believe)

Default payback percentage

Hello Shamus,

I dont really know the payback percentage but as I looked throught various sites it is around 92 to 98. For example on slotland.com is written: Our payout and odds are comparable to the top slot machines found in Las Vegas and conform to the Nevada Gaming Rules.

What are the best payback percentages worldwide?

I'm not sure what the best payback percentages are ... but your range would cover it. If you are getting a return over 92%, these are very good. At conventional casinos, they most often shift the payback percentage down below 90% when the denomination is low (eg. 1-cent, 2-cent, 5-cent).
