What's the best Time of Day to play slots?

I don't know if there's really a "best" time where the machines are going to pay out more. I think it's pretty much up to the individual player about where the feel comfortable.
Personally, I don't mind the crowds, but I have a friend who only gambles after midnight. He just doesn't like to be elbow to elbow with people, and he says that it throws his concentration off. If anybody thinks that slots pay better at a certain time of the day, feel free to express your opinion.

I like to be in the thick of things. Something about cigarette smoke and old people with oxygen tanks really get my adrenaline pumping.

I can't stand the crowds--I like to have complete freedom of choice to play whatever machines I want. That's why I go early in the morning. I arrive usually around 6:00am and play until the crowds start arriving (approx 1pm). I've not heard of any advantage based on time of day. There's a perception that the hits are more frequent during the busy time of day (afternoon and evening), but that is caused by the higher number of people playing.

I agree Ricky. There is no difference in the frequency or amounts of the payout on slots -- so the least busy time of day likely gives you the best choice of machines.
Server-based gaming may change this slightly. Almost all of the companies have some "Server Based" games released or in development. The casino can actually change the game on a given machine at the flick of a switch. The idea is to make game themes which appeal to the gamers who tend to play machines at a certain time of day. For example, seniors are most common in a casino through the week and during the day. They might enjoy games based on 50's themes like BANDSTAND or Betty Boop. Also, this gives the opportunity to introduce new game themes -- which makes the machines busier. The newest games in a casino get the most attention. Once that attention drops, they can put a new game on the machine to get the attention ... without investing in new hardware or cabinet. Ultimately, I can see the player selecting from multiple slot games ... similar to the way the "Game Maker" type of slots allow you to choose from multiple games. Wouldn't it be cool to select from a list of 8 classic Monopoly games on one machine? /\/\/\/\ the Shamus /\/\/\/\ |

When I go to vegas, I like to wake up late around 3pm, eat lunch do all the sight seeing have dinner, then start max betting away around 10pm. I like playing when it is still crowded just to see what machines has been hitting but late enough so the crowd will start to die down and more machines open up. I doubt machines know what time it is and when to start paying out, but when a lot of people are playing at the same time you see a lot of play hence more jackpots. It depends on when you like to play.
If I can give you one word of advice, if you care about your player rating: Find out what the casino considers as a "gaming day." Some considers a gaming day to be Midnight to Midnight. Others consider it to be 6am to 6am. Why does this matter? Casinos base your play on how much you gamble on each trip and this can impact the offers you receive. For instance if you gamble and earn "1000" slot points in one day you will earn Y offers. But if you earn 1000 points over 2 days instead of 1 day, your average will be lowered and you might not receive as many valuable offers. So I would advise you to play as much in one "gaming day" to increase your average and you might notice better offers. Just a lil tid bit I wanted to share. TOP DOLLAR PLAYER |
