LOL Pete! Thanks for the wise perspective! Yeah, so those 105% payoff machines--they're gonna be testing those soon, right?
The main reason I asked the max bet question in the first place is to expand my knowledge of sneaky ways casinos might get you to dump even more money for the same experience. And on those occasions when you DO want to dump more money into the toilet, I mean slot machines, whether there are slightly better-odds vs. worse-odds ways to do it.
From what I've gleaned in other threads, it seems like if you do want to play bigger, it's generally better to do a lower bet on a higher-denom machine than a higher bet on a lower-denom machine (assuming the total amount wagered remains the same). For example, betting one credit per line on a 40-line five-cent machine for a $2.00 total MAY have a theoretically better payoff percentage than five credits per line on a 40-line penny machine, also for a $2.00 total wager.
I'm usually a pretty low roller (don't know why I've gotten some of the comps I have--maybe my zip code?) and really just do this for the entertainment. Sort of like an expensive video game. If a fun-looking slot is only available in penny denom, or the minimum bet is too rich on a higher-denom machine, I'll go for the penny slot. But if playing max bet DOES make a difference on certain machines, or there are other ways to enhance the experience without busting the bankroll, I'd love to find out what they are. Anyway, thanks!
