Default Making video poker practice fun

Thoughts about getting a royal flush playing video poker. Years ago I went to http://www.freeslots.com/poker.htm and played with the “trainer on” function until I understood the basics of video poker... you can play all forms, i.e. jacks or better, deuces wild, etc.
    ---
In January I got bored with playing video poker at such a slow pace and went to
    http://www.vpgenius.com/video-poker/...raw-poker.aspx.
    ---
I not only enjoyed playing faster, but I really learned a lot. For example, I’d never realized how hard it is to get a royal flush. I found in playing 100 hands at a time, that I rarely ever got a royal flush. Sometimes I went over an hour or two or three without getting one... and if you consider how many hands I had played at 100 hands each time, I had played in hour after hour of play, it boggles the mind. It cured me of constantly trying to get a royal flush and caused me to try for more reasonable goals... the only time I try for a royal flush is if I have at least 3-4 cards in the flush. I also got a new appreciation of straight flushes and just plain flushes... they kept me playing a lot longer. Just think how many points you put on your card playing $5.00 at a time for 100 hands.
    ---
My system was simple, I used the setup that came up on the screen... of 10000 points and I played like it was a penny machine or $100... which unless circumstances change drastically is all I’ll ever have the money to play with in a real casino. I play until the $100 is gone or I reach a goal of 30.000 - 40,000 points or $300-$500. I consider this to be a reasonable way that I might play in a real casino. Try it and find out just how hard this game is to win.

I like the training at videopoker.com, too, but I think it costs $8 or so a month. I used a free trial membership to do my training. I think the online training options are great. I tried absorbing video poker strategies, but it was easy once I started doing it as a game.

The tools at the vpgenius site are useful.

I love videopoker.com. They have free contests for free and paid members.

Texas Gramma, if youre serious about vp you should invest in winpoker or video poker for winners. They are great programs. They have lots of games and you play at the denomination you want and "deposit" the amounts you want. Its also a trainer and if you want you can set it to warn you when the hand you picked is not the best hand to hold. You can track how "perfectly" strategy wise you play. Its fun to see yourself getting better and better and it really helped me to win more often on vp in the casinos! Most important, have fun!

For Jacks or Better, it's about every 40,000 hands that you are going to get a royal. That's about 80 hrs. of play on a single play machine if you average 500 hands per hour.
