Stumbling Around Vegas April 9 to April 15, 2012

Rambler and I left for Las Vegas on the day after Easter. Even though we left in plenty of time, when we arrived at PHL we barely made the plane as “spring break” was in full force and the lines were unbelievable. Never again! Rambler had to literally run as fast as he could to the gate so that we could get on our plane before it took off. Whew! Close call!

Our first stay was at the Orleans, a place we really enjoy. We were lucky enough to score a room on the 21st floor, with a nice view. Following are some pictures from our stay at the Orleans.

After eating, I touched base with Treyster, and we planned to meet at the Palazzo for a drink later that evening. It was great seeing Linda and Trey again, and being able to say Happy Birthday to Linda in person. We were pleasantly surprised when Wicked and her friend Stacey showed up to say hello.

After leaving Linda and Trey, R and I headed to the Bootlegger Bistro for Open Mic night. The rumor is that you never know who will stop by the place on Open Mic night. We did not see any celebrities, but had a good time sitting at the bar, playing video poker, and eating pizza and ravioli. The bartender ended up comping our drinks.
We woke up early on Tuesday morning, as Rambler was playing at 9:30 a.m. for me in a video poker tournament. The tournament was part of the comp package that we received from the Orleans. He had two sessions on Tuesday. After he played his 12:30 p.m. session, we headed to the Silverton, as I had $25 in free play. (Neither of us had any big wins this trip, but we did have some small hits, which I will post at the end of my report).
For dinner, we went across the street from the Orleans to McMullin’s Irish Pub, a place we have frequented a few times in the past. They have daily happy hour specials, so Rambler ordered the sausage rolls, and chicken tenders with a pint of harp and I had a steak sandwich. (Sorry, forgot to take pictures). We played the rest of the night at the Orleans.
Wednesday morning, R had to play the last session of the video poker tournament. He actually had a decent score, so we planned on being back for the festivities at 2 p.m. to see if we had any prize money. Besides, they were having a big cake and champagne so we just HAD to be back in time for a couple of glasses of champagne. After his session, we headed over to Terrible’s to collect our free play. We also had $20 comp money to use at the Bouganvillea Café so we ate breakfast there.
Turned out, I came out in 22nd place and won $50 in the tournament. I know…not big money, but $50 came in handy. Here are some pics from the tournament.

Now the real excitement starts! We drove to Planet Hollywood for a pre-arranged buffet dinner with some members of the SMF group. The plan was to meet for dinner at 5 p.m., then drive to the WMS gaming offices to take part in a Players Life focus group and play some of the WMS machines, (most of them not yet released). When we first arrived at P HO, the first person I ran into was Evoni, who quickly introduced me to Slotspert. We then gathered at the entrance to the buffet and DW initiated a drawing for $100. Everyone put in their screen names, and R’s name was drawn as the winner. Thanks to DW for adding to the fun! After dinner, Rambler and I, along with NYPhinix drove over to WMS for their event. It seemed like a great time was had by all! Thanks to TheShamus for arranging this event…..a unique opportunity for our group.

On Thursday, we checked out of the Orleans and checked into Caesar’s Palace for three comped nights. Our room in the Augustus Tower was beautiful……..see pics below. At that point I was starving, so I bought a California Salad for myself and pepperoni pizza for R, from the Cypress St. Market Place in Ceasars and took them up to our room to eat. The salad was delicious, and more than enough for two people.

Around 4 p.m., we ventured over to TI for the 2012 Meet and Greet. I was sitting at a machine waiting for Rambler to procure new player’s cards, when I saw a familiar face walking towards me. It was none other than Toc, who I had met previously at the Halloween Stumble. Rhonda was with Toc, so the four of us made our way to Kahuanaville. Rhonda and Toc are a lot of fun, and we enjoyed seeing them again!

The Meet and Greet did not disappoint! Laurie and Clemi did a wonderful job with the planning. The food was delicious and the company was even better. It was so nice meeting and talking with all of the members I had not yet met, and reconnecting with those from past events. Following are some pics from the event.
