General Anesthesia :(

Thinking of you and your mom! I always get stressed out with GA! I cry on the way to the hospital. Last sept I had surgery for a foot bone spur and had to be put under.i made my hubby promise me a Casino trip for 2 weeks after! Lol when I got there that's what I was thinking about. Well. I couldn't go until about 3 months later so I could get around but it helped. I'm always stressed with it so I understand.

I have been under GA 10+ times. My longest time under , a little over 8 hours. No problems .

I think this day and age it is safer than ever before. Been under GA almost 18 times between age 21 - 40 and once for over 8 hours. Waking up after a long one is harder but I felt safe each time after a chat with the doctor before he knocks me out.

Think positive and have faith in the doctor.

Thanks guys! That makes me feel better hearing from people who've had it.

She'll be under for an hour and a half. I have my semester final the day after, so that will be a stressful week. I'll let you guys know how it goes!

Maybe I'll take her to the casino once she feels better and her head wrap is removed

My best wishes for your Mom (and you too!) I thought you were going to say she was 90 or something! I doubt that mid-50's is even considered old in the medical field. I would think other factors (ie. obesity, smoking or other medical conditions) would play more of a role. So sweet that you're concerned like that!
