Are these cards strictly about preserving br? There are times it wants me to go for a unsuited straight, instead of two of a suited straight or even royal. I would rather chance the loss of a unsuited straight snd go for suited or even royal.

Shouldn't be. They are supposed to be the best play to statistically get the highest return on the hand.

Well I may have 3 unsuited to a straight, and two suited. I would rather play the two suited, but it stops me saying its not the best play.
