I use to bring $120 and I felt I had a good chance that I would not lose more than half $60.But a few volatile machines changed that thinking.I would get down so fast, then I would start betting more and then I started losing way too much.Seems like betting more you really need a huge bankroll.
I like to win enough to keep playing for a while. As a friend says they call it gambling not winning so I figure my odds are I'll leave money at the casino, which is ok. But I'd like to be able to play a few hours without losing everything right away. I'll walk if I don't get some hits in the first $5 and try another machine.
for me it depends on the game. If I am playing a big progressive game like I have been playing lately I tell my self only use 1 100 dollar bill but end up using a lot more lol. Those Ultimate sevens either take it fast or give you twice your money worth so I am a fool on those lol.
Interesting question. I think the folks saying they have a plan and then having it evaporate probably got it right. I honestly don't like to over think this issue. I start at a machine with what I think will give me a chance to see how it is running (usually $40-$50) and then wing it from there. Too much planning feels like work and I definitely don't go to the casino to work...

This all just an illusion of control. It is more important to know what, where, when and how to play.
His name is Corneilous and he invented long division.

I'm glad you have a sense of humor because sometimes I think my posts don't come across the way I intend
I actually thought you were joking about having some kind of control over random events! Now I see what you were saying, and I agree that there are ways of playing that could potentially decrease your losses and lead to a more positive playing experience. OMG now I sound like a politician!!!!!!!!
Lately on my own dime I have been doing the $10/10 machine thing. I will spin as often as the initial $10 will allow and cash out whatever the final outcome. Some times this nets a profit and others a modest(?) loss, I have yet to loose more than $30 over the past 6 or so trips since starting this. On bus runs when I have FP to work with I just play as long as that lasts and if I cannot catch some lucky hits I just go into the Jester Pete mode until it is time to catch the ride back.
