Question Is the outcome of a "picking bonus" predetermined by the RNG?

I have been wondering this forever so I thought I would finally get some opinions on this. First, I will start with a short story...

My mom was playing Life of Luxury the other night and hit the Luxury bonus. She was playing $.90 (30 lines 3 cent on each line). Well, I couldn't believe it when the diamond came up. This was the first time we had played this game but I knew she was picking for $1,100 (she thought she was picking for the Sapphire for some reason). The lady next to us said "there's three of them out there you just have to pick it." My mom picked one of the diamonds that said progressive award. I screamed bloody murder not because $1,100 is a lot of money but because I couldn't believe she picked it. I am the worst picker in the world. So here is my question... Had the random number generator already decided that my mom was going to win? Did she really have free will to choose her fate or was it predetermined. All the times that I picked credits on Wizard of Oz, Is that because I suck or is it because no matter which one I touch it is ALWAYS going to be credits. What does everyone think?

My understanding that the pick is not predetermined when, after you pick, the rest of the choices are revealed. Most pick-em bonuses are that way. There is one that I know of that is not. The Sphinx bonus, where you have to pick one sarcophagus out of 5, or one sphinx out of 5, the other choices are not revealed after the pick. I think that this bonus is predetermined.

We had a whole discussion about it awhile back, and the final verdict was that the bonuses are not predetermined. Heres a link to the thread. "The Shamus" is the person you can get the facts from.

    Hey Rockopera8,

Thanks for posting the thread. It seems to have gotten a little heated so I don't want to start the whole discussion again. I don't think I will be playing "picking bonus" games that often anymore. I don't like feeling like it is my fault if I don't win. I would rather blame it on the RNG.

It is the RNG Mrs Ivey! Blame the RNG! I still think the RNG is the cause of global warming and no one is going to ever convince me otherwise!

^ NO NO NO.....The RNG is the dumb thing which keeps on doing its thing, but it is the goblygook in between that causes all the problems.

I feel the same way! Thats why I generally play machines that have free spin bonuses. I hate it when I screw up my bonus by making bad picks.

Otherwise I sit and say "woulda coulda shoulda"!!

RNG determines the amounts behind the object but it is up to the player to choose the best one!!!
