Yes, they're still very popular. I've got another 18 on order. I'm trying to get the Rock & Roll game (in the "Double Play" cabinet, 2 short games with a sign above) but it might not be approved by the lab (GLI) in time for the install so we may have to convert to it at a later date. I've got "Phat Cats" and "Love Bug" on order in the Double Play cabinet, more Diamond Time and Quick Hits games, a couple "Double Gold" ball poppers, (some of these are headed to the High Limit Room) and a 6 game round carousel called "Empire", a remake of one of their original games.
As far as maintenance, yes, they do require more. It's a matter of having their Techs train our Techs. The ball poppers need to have the globe cleaned every couple of months or it will turn cloudy. A quick wipe with Windex takes care of it. The balls have to be changed out every 4 to 6 months or they'll dry out, crack, and then the bits get caught in the mechanism. The "Big Rollers" (individual games with a large top box that has a big scrolling panel) have to have their optics cleaned regularly. So, yes, they do require more maintenance but if the players love them it's worth it.
AC has some interesting things in the pipeline. I'm actually going out to AC next week to spend a few days at their offices to look at future product. Check out their latest release on their website "You Bet Your Ass".
Hi CoushattaSlots:
Thanks again for the always insightful updates!! I'm glad that AC Coin is hanging in there following the split from IGT. The casinos around here do not have as much of their product ... but they might get a dozen machines in an 800 machine slot floor. They are never the hottest thing on the floor -- but they have a study crowd.
