Well, against my better judgement we decided to go to Vee Quiva on a whim. Nothing else to do and it is close. Got there about 2:30 in the afternoon and the place wasn't real crowded, or smokey, yet. I was a bit upset with this casino as they took out my favorite machines, that I almost always won on, and replaced them with penny machines. They also had put in a bank of 5 cent Bally Sky Spirits and I liked these and did ok on them. The wife quickly found a machine she liked and I headed to the Sky Spirit. They were still there but were now 2 cent machines. I felt ripped off especially after losing $40 pretty fast. When they were nickels there were (I think) five betting levels starting at 20 credits($1). Now there were three starting at 90 credit up to 300. Now $1.80 isn't that large a bet but it was no wonder out of 14 machines, only two were in use. And nobody was hitting.
Left those and found wife on Goldfish holding her own. I'm down almost $60 and she is up almost $20. Going to be one of those days! Played until 5pm and then we decided to eat. All they have is a deli and the roast beef sandwiches are awesome so it was an easy choice.
While eating we made an observation. The casino was pretty full by now but not buzzing at all. Didn't hear anyone yelling, screaming, or anything. Nothing, just a bunch of somber looking people banging away on their slots. No one seemed to be having fun. No one was winning. What a pathetic place this was. To be honest I felt uncomfortable and kinda stupid for being there. It is hard to explain but we looked at each other and without words just left. I don't know if we will feel that way in other casinos in the future, but we will not be going back to Vee Quiva.
