    Default Total Rewards Diamond

So for the first time, I reached Diamond status at Harrahs. It was about a month ago.

When I went to get my new Diamond card, the Total Rewards person congratulated me, gave me my new card and explained all of the new benefits that I would get- Diamond Lounge access, priority and free valet parking, priority lines at cashier, buffet, etc. She also explained that my offers would increase dramatically and I would get invitations to more events.

These benefits are all nice and I enjoy them, but the only new offer that I received was an extra $5 in free play for one day, and some new offers for cash if I travel to Laughlin- $50. My last 3 trips to Harrahs' were big ones, I was there for over 8 hours each time and earned well over 500 tier points so my ADT should be high. I was looking online for Vegas room rates for a possible future trips and I didn't see as many comped nights showing up as I used to.

Anyway, I was curious if anyone else really noticed better offers after making Diamond. I know it can take a while for new offers to kick in, and your average daily theoretical has a lot to do with it, but it seems like my offers have gone down a little if anything though my status and play increased. Maybe I was just getting better stuff before so I would be encouraged to increase my tier?

Maybe business is getting better so offers are decreasing?

I've been Diamond for years, and can pretty safely say you will get NO better offers just for being Diamond unless things are drastically different in AZ than they are in Atlantic City or PA. It is ALL about the ADT. If you mess up your ADT on a trip (like I did last time I was in AC) it will show in your offers (screw you Caesars!) Some of the perks are nice, but it's certainly not something to chase if you're just looking for more free play. Again, AZ might do things a little differently, but I doubt it. HET is HET.

Yeah, I think HET is the same no matter where you are. I'm curious if your trips to AC that lowered your ADT lowered all of your offers or just what you get in Atlantic City? Back in May they gave me 5 free nights in Vegas at Caesar's including a weekend and during a convention that I was attending. I played quite a bit there- earned over 1000 tier points, but it was spread out during the 5 days so each day's average was just okay. It didn't seem to affect my freeplay at Ak-Chin in AZ (that dropped later when I went for a short trip and didn't play much) but when I look up the hotel rates in Vegas I don't see any weekends comped now, even at Imperial Palace. I may just call and see what they can do, but definitely doesn't look like I'll get as many offers there unless I go again and play a lot in one day.

http://www.gamingmarketadvisors.com/...te%20Paper.pdf Read this article, it explains some of what you are seeing, Harrahs grooms the player to try and achieve higher tier status, very clever. Also this article states Harrahs markets to the elusive player, and isen't foolish enough to waste to much to much energy on the return player, might explain why I got more freeplay then ever after not being out there for 2 months. I have gone each week and used the freeplay, what do you want to bet it goes down next month?

Thanks for the info, lots of info but worth reading it all.

I see that they don't send great offers to regulars who are there often, I can understand from a business perspective (though I don't like it).
It does mention though that they send more offers to diamond players, and also mentions that there are so many delays in the system, so maybe its still going to be a while.

By the way, you probably will get decent freeplay for more than just this month. I think I mentioned this in another post, but last year my freeplay dropped to $5 in December there so I didn't go all month, and then it went up to $50 per week for Jan, Feb, and March before dropping in April to $35.

    I liked this part best:

The program enjoys very high participation rates with 78% of coin handle recorded as Tracked Play. While not as high as Station Casino’s Boarding Pass program, it is near the upper limits of tracked play found in domestic casinos.

I don't have proof of anything, just speculation, but it seems to be property specific, not even all of AC. I had about a hundred dollars in free play at Bally's, played there for quite some time. I went next door to Caesars and played some free play (which, in AC, triggers a trip) then realized that I needed to leave, or risk the dog having...an unhappy evening. So, I essentially had a "trip" where I played only the tiniest bit. Suddenly, I can't book a premium room at Caesars, though chances are I would be given one at check-in. I can book whatever I want at Bally's, and just received a nice chunk of free play. From what I understand, Vegas is different, as all of the HET properties are linked - you don't trigger a new trip by going from, for instance, Bally's to Paris, but I've found that room offers change if you stay at a particular hotel and don't give it "adequate" play (I'm looking at you, Caesars Palace.)

I'm diamond largely because my closest casino (15/20 minutes away) is a Harrah's property, and because I like being able to use my comps in Las Vegas, but I certainly wouldn't chase diamond. And while you may get more "offers" when you're Diamond, they may not be the ones you expect or want. For instance, my mail is flooded with invitations to slot tournaments in Las Vegas, which is an offer, just not one I give a crap about.

I was diamond for a few years, but now that we are back in Colorado there are no Harrah's and I dropped to gold. The only difference I have noticed is that the junkets that are offered. They used to include airfare. Now they offer them with a reduced rate on the airfare.

I get that same crap too. If they think for one minute that I will pay for a plane trip to laughlin they've got another thing comin. I'd rather pay the same thing for a trip to Vegas and get a comped room. Just stupid.
