The best benefit of the Diamond card is the buffet line passes. Especially at the Rio, you get your own private little dining area. Valet is nice if they are closed except for diamond and above. Diamond lounges are nice for a snack, but nothing to write home about. It takes about 3=4 months for your offers to increase once you hit Diamond.
I've been Diamond for a few years but doubt I'll make it this year. We'll see how the offers go, as is almost impossible to get a weekend comp in Vegas anyway. MGM was way better offers and seem to reguire a lot less play.
I did recently discover an additional Diamond benefit (though it's really only a benefit outside of Nevada)- free drinks.
I usually don't drink alcohol at my local casinos, usually only do in Vegas. However, I was at Ak-Chin today and decided I wanted a drink. I ordered one off the total touch screen and when the server came by, she noticed I was Diamond and told me I should ask to get some drink coupons. I had to talk to the host on duty, and he gave me four coupons for free alcoholic drinks. None of the other casinos here offer this, I thought it was a really nice benefit.
With some exception, aren't drinks on the floor free as long as you're playing? ...might you mean these coupons are for bar drinks? That would be an interesting perk for me because sometimes you just need a Grey Goose Martini with your Goldfish.
Now, regarding Diamond...had it...07-09...got it from play in primarily three places Tunica (majority), NOLA (where I made Plat on the way to Diamond), and Cherokee (where I finished Diamond with a massive 2100 tier night). Best offers came out of Tunica...and it took about two months. I felt it was like they were waiting to see if I would return without enticement. I was just so swamped with work, I had no time for fun so it worked out nicely as a test of the HET marketing monster.
Eventually, the Tunica offers started rolling in...Got about $250-$350 free play on average per month... had nearly $500 I used during the Christmas shopping event in Tunica where I had about the same in "spending money" (actual value about $250). After that trip (where I played mostly on free play and left about $800 up), my offers declined dramatically. Stopped making trips out there and offers dried up for months...then about 6 months down the road a random room-golf-spa package comes up...like a "feeler" ("you still there? we love you...really we do...") -- except, I'm not a golfer...so the value was not wonderful for me. Then, this summer...free junkets start popping up. Hmm...if not during the week, I might accept...I imagine if I wait longer, weekend junkets might pop up soon. ...and yes, like others I used to get the offers for free junkets to Laughlin that have now become priced... it's funny to me. I do however want AC to send me another free junket offer because I've never been there...
Did not know about the drink coupons at Ak-Chin. I usually go to the Diamond Lounge if I want a drink. For those not aware alcohol at the Native American casinos is not allowed to be comped on the floor.
I have been Diamond for about 2-3 years now and at times here at AkChin we get free gifts NOT giving to Gold members (cant speak for 7 stars as thats waaayy out of my league). When you are diamond depending on the property you do get perks. I get free flight offers to Laughlin all the time but since I work during the week and take care of our grandson thats out of the question.
For instance at the Paris which we will be next week, they have diamond only check in for the hotel. I cant tell you how nice that is when you see a HUGE line due to a convention or something and we just walk into diamond line and were done in 10 min
Money wise it goes up and down based on play NOT level of membership. And also just a hint to get them to give you "more money" even if you play $30-$50 a night or trip play slow! You can get more comps your way for playing the same money amount in 2-3 hours then dropping in in 30 min!
In 2009 I just missed diamond by 85 credits I had 10,915 I planned trip to AC for late December to make diamond but didn't get there. In January I stopped at Players Club and was told I would get diamond anyway, well I didn't get it. I decided I am not going to chase diamond, so in 2010 I played until I had 4000 just to keep my platinum card then started visiting other casino's. Found I really liked Resorts and Hilton in AC both of which I had not visited in many years. Harrah's loss now. I play in AC, Tunica and Biloxi, this year I will also visit Nevada and when I reach 4000 my play at Harrah's will stop and I will enjoy the other casino's.
