    Default Minnesota Casinos anyone??

I live in northern Minnesota, the nearest casino is about 45 mins away on Lake Vermillion, Fortune Bay Casino, often called Misfortune Bay or Unfortunate Bay. Anyway, it's way out in the middle of nowhere (sticks, boonies) located on Lake Vermillion. They have all the modern penny and nickle slots, I was told by my mother today that her sister was up there last night and somebody had won a $200,000+ Wheel of Fortune prog, they had to fly somebody from Vegas, they had the whole area roped off and everything, I wish I had seen it but somebody might've noticed the progressive went from a different casino. Anyway, despite that I wouldn't advise anyone to go there for a gambling vacation, but wondered if there were any others here who play there or are from Minnesota and have any stories from there or other Minnesota casinos.

    Default Stay away from Mystic

Steer clear of Mystic Lake Casino....Here we call it Mistake Lake! LOL Because you feel like you've made a big mistake going there!! It's funny how we midwesterners have a habit of renaming the casinos!

We also make fun of the Turtle Lake casino (wisconsin) because it's mascot is a turtle with no shirt on (or shell or pants).... we figure that if even their mascot "lost his shirt"..... so will we!

I do like Treasure Island in Red Wing though... never won big there, but it's brighter and I can usually play quite a while on what $$ I bring.

I have some more reviews of Wisconsin/Minnesota casinos on a website I'm building @ www.lucky7review.com. The site's not complete, but I'm workin' on it. I figured it would be a great way to keep an eye on which casinos play "fair".

Let me know about your casinos "up north"... I'm always looking for new places to play!

lol @ Mistake Lake. I haven't been there yet, I heard it is huge though. I've been to Fortune Bay, Fond du-Luth(couple times), Shooting Star (one time), Grand Casino(several times), & Black Bear(several times). I haven't been to White Oak but I hear it is very small, I've never heard anyone say much good about that place really. The ones I've been to most are Fortune Bay & Black Bear. I like Black Bear better, it's bigger I think they have more going on inside the casino, but Fortune Bay is closer and they have more going on outside with snowmobile trails, the golf course, the lake/resorts nearby. Fon-du-Luth is right downtown Duluth near the Bayfront so if you spent a day running around there I would get your shopping done before going in so you don't spend all your money at the casino. I haven't been lucky at Fond-du-Luth but I've seen others win. I personally don't like going there because of the drive out. Who wants to drive around busy traffic after losing a bunch of money?

Default Mystic Lake Casino---all dried up

I totally agree that Mistake Lake is a no-go!!! It's big, it just remodeled and added all the new fangled games (i.e. Wild Wood, Stonehenge, Mightly Mammoth, etc.), and NOTHING is paying, including the new games. In fact, I don't believe I have ever left there in the black. It's the WORST casino for payouts in the midwest, I think! I have had better luck at South Dakota gas station slot machines! Not kidding. I prefer Treasure Island Casino in Red Wing, MN--hands down.

    Default Minnesota Casinos

I also live in northern Minnesota. Fortune Bay is our "most frequented" casino but in the last month the wife and I have been to Shooting Star Casino and Northern Lights Casino which is at Walker, MN. I would recomend giving both these casinos a try if you haven't been to them.

Went to the Bay today for a few hours(first time ever there), and have to say I was very disappointed, I thought the set up was horrible, and didn't have my kind of games.(Or atleast I couldn't find them, or what be it)

    Default I used to think...

That mystic was crap, but I've started to change my mind. They still don't get some of the big progressive games: Top Gun, Star Wars, Wiz of oz....but they have really opened up their variety. I still think that Treasure Isn't has more variety...but Mystic seems to be paying a little more lately. What can I say...it's also closer.
