Default Slot machine directory kiosks

One of the things I have been advocating for on the Playersforum since WMS is watching that forum and having us do numerous surveys, is asking casinos if they would provide a slot machine kiosk with a directory so we can locate our favorite slots. Also so we can see if they have a certain slot. I am hoping this request is not falling on deaf ears because I think this would be a very useful tool for many of us.

I cannot tell you how many times I have walked the floor because I check the casinos website and they have a game listed and I cannot find it to save my life!!! I usually get distracted and play other games in the meantime. I do sometimes break down and ask an attendant , which sometimes fails because they don't have a clue.

One time at Rincon (God I hate that place) they had a game advertised as a new arrival (Monopoly Super Money Grab) so my husband and I went down there all excited to play that game, only to find out that their information was out of date and the game had been removed "some time ago" as so eloquently told me after I wrote them yet another nasty letter about how inept they are Anyway it took them about another 8 MONTHS to update their website and take that game off as a "new arrival" Ughhh that places sucks...

I've asked about this kind of thing too, and according to the casino, they said it's impractical because they do floor moves and change-outs so frequently. It would take too much time for them to draw up a new directory every time something moves.

However, they could have at least a "slot search" option online (as Boyd's does).

You're not thinking like a slot floor manager. If they have a directory and you don't see what you want, you might walk out. If they don't have a directory, you'll troll around looking and you'll probably stop and play something.

The amount of time required to keep a list up-to-date would amount to a few hours a week. Every slot machine in a casino is tracked on a very regular basis -- so all of this information is available in the "Slot Management System" in use by the casino. This data could be queried. Deb, it's a great idea ... especially with knowledgable players. I will go to a different casino if I know certain machines exist.

The idea that SLOT ATTENDANTS are so ignorant of their own machines is a disgrace. The ability to recognize the location of 90% of the machines on the casino floor should be part of their hiring requirement. They are in the customer service business!

Last night, someone left their coat between two machines. When the waitress came around, she refused to take the coat, or tell anyone about it. I asked for her name before she left. A minute later, she came back (realizing I asked for her name for a reason) ... she said I should take the coat up to security, because if she takes the coat, she would need to fill out a rediculous amount of paperwork. Nice!

Now ... I'm not blaming this waitress ... she is part of poor procedural design. The system was set up so there was no incentive for her to help the customers in the casino.

Exactly Shamus. With the computer technology today there is no reason why a kiosk would be so time consuming. The do track everything anyway so this, in my opinion, would be something very simple to work into their already existing tracking system. Also in the situation of the coat that was left behind, same thing. With computers I don't see the problem here with logging in a coat and the location it was found in. Customer service in many industries, not just gaming, is suffering. The lack of integrity in businesses amazes me. It seems so very simple.

It reminds me of when I asked for my husband to be paged at Rincon. NO ONE could help me because security is supposedly the ONLY people that can page, are you kidding me??? That is ludicrous. If only I could manage a casino property!!

Default Interesting statement

about if only you could manage a casino property. What way would yours be different, what machines would be available, which ones not available? By the way, would it be close to San Diego? I've found that I have a few comp nights there also, at Rincon, of all places, and you recommend it so highly! LOL And what would your payback percentages be, and why. Thanks in advance.

First of all Andy Capp machines would be TRASHED!!!! LOL And all of my payback percentages would be at 96% for everything and yes I would still stay in business!!!! I challenge you to go to Rincon and have a good time. I think your trip would be very disappointing!!!! LOL!

Boyd casinos (they own Sam's Town) offers an online slot map.

https://www.bconnectedonline.com/slot-search

I never made it to Sam's to see how accurate the map is, though. (I doesn't give EXACT location, but narrows it down to section(s) on a map.) At the time I found the map(s) I wondered why more casinos don't offer it. Even a list (like "Harrah's Slot Finder") is useful to at least narrow down the available slots at an individual casino. At a huge venue like Foxwoods such a map would be Nirvana. I've wanted to set flags in that place in order to help me find machines a second time. :P

It is pretty cool, they have the right idea! I am glad to see that someone has tried to do this for their players. Seems that most casinos really have no idea how much use slot enthusiasts would use this!

Deb, I have noticed that Bellagio has a slot manager "newsletter" updated semi-regularly. It has nowhere near the details we would desire! On the other hand, it dishes out little appetizers of info on new slot machines, and -- this intrigues me most -- offers his email. I don't frequent the Bellagio or I would test out how friendly he is to discussing my slot interests and queries.
