On the lighter side, try some of the new lozenge type aids. I know people who have had good results. (chewing tobacco is a terrible option). Carry around a cup of ice chips when at the casino.
. Thats awesome , I really do want to, its more crazy then ever to smoke, the cost is rediculous not to mention the health effects. Its one expensive way to give yourself disease. I don't know about the rest of the Country but here in Az 2 packs of cigarettes are 13.00 dollars and some change and they go up and no one hears about it till you go in to buy some and its jumped from 12.00 dollars and some change to the 13.00! what other product is sold this way? I can't imagine going into the grocery store and noticeing the bread I buy just went up another dollar

Northstar, those are excellent tips. Even though I am a smoker, you are absolutely right.
I quit smoking when I was pregnant and then 5 minutes after I delivered I was telling my husband to get me an iced tea and a cigarette Old habits die hard. Needless to say no one got me either one. I knew I wasn't going to breast feed (I know bad mom) so I wanted to smoke again. I have never been one to smoke in my house or car so the backyard and the casino is it. Dave quit smoking for 9 yrs and then started smoking again for over a year NOW he is a non-smoker again BUT this last trip he smoked 3 cigarettes. I saw him eyeing mine and knew what he was thinking.. of course what could I do it is not like I am going to say no....... He hasn't smoked since but I know he has thought about it. I am really proud and amazed at his control. I have a feeling he is going to be a "casino" smoker from now on!

I've never wanted to quit smoking, but this year I am only going to smoke when I am at the casinos. For the past two years I've rougly smoked 3 cirgerttes a day, but put me in the casinos I am a chimmeny smoker -- Yes I will admit I am a BONUS SMOKER..there I said it. Now lets see if this helps me cut back. I do carry lollipops and gum with me, but that doesn't seem to help. Been smoking for over 30 years and still have no desire to quit, maybe one day when the casinos become smoke free then that is when I will finally say goodbye to smoking and being a california native I feel that is coming soon. I still can remember in the late 80s how I can light up at my work desk.

Got numerous drinks from the self serve machine just to keep my other hand busy lol! As with all things related with smoking, the casino is pretty tough. I found myself searching for my smokes during the start of almost EVERY bonus. There's nothing like sitting back and lighting a smoke just before your bonus starts. Cigarette in one hand, fingers crossed with the other. What is your experience with quitting smoking and continuing to go to the casino? Any tips on how to handle it? Thanks!
I love lighting up at the start of a bonus! I'll be in your boat soon, hubby is going for surgery soon and has to quit. I promised him I'd quit with him. I think you're on the right track. I use gum when I play in the non-smoking areas. I think that's what we're gonna do, just play in the non-smoking areas and I guess we'll discover some new games! Good luck and I think you're doing pretty well! Hang in there, it gets easier. As a matter of fact, my mom is an ex-smoker(quit cold turkey over 25 years ago!) and she is so sensitive to the smell of cigarette smoke and hates it!

Cigarettes and I have an on/off relationship. I usually have no trouble quitting and can go for years without it, then may start up and we're on again. I mainly smoke like you, maybe up to 3 a day, but at the casino, I can go through a whole pack!! Then I go home with a raw throat and a headache!

I have also quit for 1 to 2 year stretches before, 5 being the longest. Its association with things, like I used to go to happy hour with a couple girlfriends, of course it didn't seem like the complete social experience with out the cigarette, same with the casino. have to find ways to break that associated habit with certain activities. I don't think I would care if casinos went smoke free, maybe they can make me quit! I think the fact that it is allowed and one of the only places where its completely exceptable makes us want to excercise the right. Dumb psychology I guess.

Thanks for all the support everyone!! Still going strong. Can't wait for my trip to HR Tampa in 11 days! I'd like to have a small list of games to try before I go. Anyone want to suggest there FAVORITE machine for me to try? I will be going to HR around 4 or 5 in the morning so I should have my pick of most machines. As some of you know, DW is not a fan of slots which is why I will be going while she is sleeping. Wish me luck! I can't wait!!

Default Those Smoking Machine Things.. and other comments...

Early in this thread we were discussing those smoking machine thingys. I don't know how I feel about them, and should do a little more research on them.

While listening to ESPN Radio (every day bleh), I heard an ad for one of them called Smoke Assist. Apparently, they give you a free 30-day trial. I searched and found a website for it, https://www.smokeassist.com/. I haven't looked it over, but for anyone who's interested....

I quit while I was prego both times, and like you, Deb, I started right up again. I remember that after Olivia my oldest was born in 1987 that I had a smoking room, just so I could light up after the birth! And smoked at my desk, yeah (and let at least half a pack burn up in the ashtray when I got busy!).

And Maxgirl, AZ is so high. Even before we left, I was buying the so-called 2 for 1's, even tho they weren't my brand, just to save money. I have a chart from the Centers for Disease Control (ironically) that gives the cig taxes for every state, as well as the avg retail price, so I know where TO buy them on the road. I'm sure the CDC would be happy to know that I'm using the results of their study to plan my nicotine shopping!

My goodness, the lengths we smokers will go!! At first I thought that it wasn't very encouraging for you, JPPartyman, for us to discuss our smoking, but now I realize it's probably more of a deterrant than anything! JP, I wish you all the luck in the world. Keep up the awesome willpower!!!

Delaware Park is non-smoking and we still get our smoke on there, we just gotta stand outside! Honestly, that's one of the reasons I don't like going there. I like being able to light up with a bonus round! I'm down with your psychology!

You even know the prices ahead of time! We usually use our promo $$ at the casino to buy stoges. He smokes Newports and at the casino they're a whopping $9.43 a pack!! In my mind, they're free though since I just use my players comps for them. On the way to Charles Town there's a rinky dink ma and pa store that sells them cheap since it's in VA. I smoke Capris and they cost $7.22 in the stores. Hubby's Newports are about $5.55 and I usually get grief from him about the price of mine! ~sigh~Ah, well, it is what it is and we'll be quitting soon too.
