Frank Garrett won $363,903 playing the Wheel of Fortune slot machine game at the McCarran Airport just outside of Las Vegas. He's a 51 year old roofing contractor from California, and he hit the MegaJackpot after playing through only $40 on the machine. He and his wife were in Las Vegas for a wedding. He was playing the Wheel of Fortune slot machine with the Five Times Pay theme, and he says that he's going to let his wife decide what to do with the money.
Congratulations on the big jackpot, Mr. Garrett!

WOW!!! I have never heard of anyone winning at the slots in the airport. They are money guzzlers that get the people to play cause they are waiting for a plane or waiting to leave. I have played them myself at times but never got anything worthwhile out of them.
AND Yes they have slots at the airport in Vegas. They used to have them in everyplace imaginable. There were slots in the drugstores even. However, they have now removed them from most regular stores to keep the money down on the strip.

Don't quote me on this, because I'm not 100% sure, but I think the slots at the airports have payback percentages of like 75% or something absurd like that. I might be wrong, but I think I saw something like that in Strictly Slots magazine. Although I can look it up and make sure.

75 % percentages in favor of the bettors/ That's insane. These are good facts to know. Skip the strip and stay in the airport! |

I heard that for years the only place in Vegas you didn't see slots was the restrooms...lol And I had also heard that the airport machines had the absolute worst payouts. Kind of the last gasp to remove the rest of the change from your pocket on your way out of the state.
But then things may have changed now, maybe they finally figured out that the guy telling all his friends "I had a great time while I was there AND I hit a jackpot while I was waiting for the flight home!" is great advertising. |

Your comment about the restrooms makes me wonder...I think there was a tv show a while back where they did a tour of the world's airports. I don't think they covered the restrooms. That would be...bizarre. I bet they have them in Europe though. And an attendant with a doily.

We have received machines from McCarran and they do operate at about a 75% return to the player which is a money maker for the airport. Avoid the airport machines unless you are really bored and have extra money to donate. |

Yeah, like the airport really needs the money. Thanks for the warning, OhioGaming. I had no idea that those machines had such a poor return.

I have heard that the airport has had 7 Wheel of fortune hits this year. Someone told me they used to set the machines like that, but lately they are at par with the strip. Go figure.
