Default Know any Winners with Hearts of Gold?

Does anybody know someone whose won big on the slots and then turned around and either donated to a charity or used the money to help someone who was less fortunate?

If you do, we'd love to hear your story.

Check out this heartwarming story from Louisiana:

BOSSIER CITY, Louisiana ? (PRESS RELEASE) -- When Staci Raborn and her husband lost their young son to cancer in October, their world was turned upside down. After hitting a $4,348,921 jackpot on a $1 Wheel of Fortune(R) machine late Wednesday evening at the Horseshoe Casino and Hotel, the 33-year-old elementary school teacher from West Monroe, La. said she plans to use the winnings to establish a foundation to help other families whose children have the disease.

"Ever since we lost our precious four-year-old boy, I've been wondering how I could honor his memory and help other people with young children who are fighting cancer," Raborn said. "Now I have the money to do it."

While waiting on her husband to decide what machine to play at the popular Bossier City gaming resort -- her favorite -- Raborn picked the Wheel of Fortune(R) slot machine on her own, and after wagering less than $80, she hit the huge MegaJackpot(R), the casino's third statewide progressive grand prize of the year.

"I'm just in total shock," Raburn acknowledged after IGT technicians and Louisiana State police verified the win early this morning.

Raburn says she expects to quit working as a school teacher and plans to focus exclusively on establishing and administering her foundation.

Too bad. I was hoping that there were other charitable types out there. I guess not.

I would do something like this if I ever won a big jackpot. Alas, that seems to be my major stumbling block.

I have to be totally honest. I think if I were to hit something that big, I'd definately give to my friends and family and maybe a small donation to a charity, but I'd probably keep most of it. I have never heard of anyone giving their winnings to charity, either.

I do share the wealth when I win small jackpots though. Ill give my Husband a few hundred and my daughter money for shopping. I have been in Vegas with my Dad when he has won big on Horses or Cards, and he always passes out 100's after a big win too. My Aunt did the same when she won 6000 on a slot in Missouri.

At least you're honest about it. I, too, would keep most of it. In my previous post it might have sounded like I was going to give all of it away, but that's not the case. I would want to be generous with others, but the charity called "ME" ultimately comes first.
